Possible bug?

Post by TomBombadil711 »

I am currently playing "Operation Silver Bayonet I". Mistakenly I have altered the height of an UH-1D Huey. When I try to ground the helicopters a message occurs "Cannot do two consecutive climb/descents in the same hex". Even other loaded helicopters cannot land and unload at LZ X-Ray, the same message occurs. Any ideas?

I think you can only change height in 1 hex twice. You would have to move a hex to do another decent.

You will need to move the helicopters one hex away, change flight zones, then return to the LZ.

There's a limit to Flight Zones where you can move through only two zones in the same hex. The system remembers where you took off from, for example.

If you took off from LZ 1 from Ground to NOE to Low... that consumes your two flight zone movement... the system will remember that.

So, if you want to land back in the same hex, you need to change your flight status from Low to NOE in another hex before entering the same LZ to land.

What height is it at? Is it high altitude?

I learned that lesson the hard way too, you have to look at like you're gliding into a hex, H, L, N...one hex per...and reverse on the way out...

This one hex per flight zone change mechanism is to enforce flight arcs such that helos aren't always climbing/descending straight up or down all the time.

Actually, for purposes of this rule, you can in fact change from G to N to L, and vice versa, in the same hex. It's really only when going L to H, or vice versa, where this rule is applied. There may be exceptional cases, but that is usually how it works.
