No Entrenchment Command

Post by ImperatorAugustus »

There are times where you are reforming your line and trucks and supplies are being wasted building fortification on ground you are immediately giving up. This can also tie up support construction units

An option at the lowest level of command to not entrench at all would be nice.

Also units with less than 10% of actions points left at end turn should not entrench either.

Was thinking about the same. We need a way to tell divisions not to waste supplies on fortifications as divisions will move forward anyway.

every army works on the principle - stop, dig, eat, sleep.

level 1 fortifications take virtually no supplies, they are quick entrenchments designed to provide minimal protection, its not till you start increasing towards 2 does the freight aspect come into play.

also, unit entrenchment value varies according to MP available

I can assure you there are times where fortifications are not built. Why entrench when you are under 0 threat of attack, or if its near a rout.

I've had divisions build well over 1 fort level in a turn. Its still supplies that are desperately needed for the Axis or late game soviets.

I did not realize it factored with MP.

Again it still ties up support const units too

0-1 costs no supply, if you have seen this then its a bug:

My point was that divisions can build more than one level a turn. A full strength german divisions will start on lvl2 fort immediately.

I've yet to see a lvl 2 fort immediately by a single division.

Frankly I am with Loki here - it's an excess of micromanagement in general.

Though I do not use how much it could be difficult to code as generic thing.
I suspect I'd not bother in general to switch it on and off.

if its not adjacent to an enemy hex the max that the fort can reach is 1.1 (ie 10% towards level 2), unless there is a FZ style unit in the hex.

so the supply cost for that 10% is utterly minimal
