Manual save not working

Post by Twotribes »

If you name and save a game it does not appear when you pick to load save games.

Also why is there no back button I have to quit if I accidentally pick the wrong thing like load saved game instead of new game

It does appear, but somewhat confusingly you will find the title you gave the save down in the info box and not at the top, where only the scenario name appears. You have to look a bit lower down for the file name.

There is nothing to look down lower. I have JUST the scenario names and no lower area.

I have no idea what you are talking about the first one is selected as soon as you go to save and clicking down to each of the next does not show any lower area.

If you name and save a game it does not appear when you pick to load save games.

Is this the first time you try to save a game file here?

For the first time, the Save As dialog points to where ever Windows decides to default it. You need to manually browse to Vietnam install folder and to select the Saves folder there.

Once you save there, the game will appear in the Scenario Selection window. Also, you need to point there only once, once you've done that, saves default to Saves folder as they should.

I hope this is what's going on here...

Also why is there no back button I have to quit if I accidentally pick the wrong thing like load saved game instead of new game

For some reason the [X] button at top right corner would not allow for overriding to Esc. You can go back by pressing Esc key though, have you tried that out yet?

Can you verify the file you saved under different name appears on your Saves folder?

Note that save files also have a file suffix depending of what type of a game you were playing, eg. *.btl for vs-computer, *.bte for email, etc. Each of them only show under similar settings for Scenario Selection window, ie. if you chose PBEM only *.bte save files show there.

The saved file name is shown at the bottom. So if you have multiple sessions of the SAME scenario that you're playing, it will tell you which scenario you are playing at the top part and which scenario file is being displayed where I highlighted it above in the bottom section
