Need help with bridges

Post by TomBombadil711 »

I am playing "Crossing the Golden Gate" as the US. The vehicle bridge is build but I cannot cross it with my Patton tanks although the strenght points are less than 12. What am I doing wrong?

And another question: What do the red crosses (for example hexes 43,55 and 46,54) placed on the map stand for? Cannot find it in the manual.

Thanks in advance.

Can you post a screenshot of where you build the bridge?

Evidence suggests that Light Bridges were built here. In the code, the movement is blocked because Heavy Vehicles are attempting to cross a Light Bridge, which no can do.

Thanks for that Berto...I am playing Tom in this PBEM and wondering if it is worth us restarting. Did Tom just build the bridge with the wrong Engineering unit by mistake (that only had Light Bridge capability) or is there a fault with the scenario in that the US are missing a Heavy bridge building capability and we should wait for a patch ?

I'm guessing he should have saved the Engineers for the mines ahead and used the bridgelayer for the bridge.

I'd recommend restarting, as much of a pain that is and only use the bridgelayer for the vehicle bridge.

FYI, only Bridge Engineers and AVLB units can lay medium (aka Vehicle) bridges

We are both learning the nuances still so it is no hardship.

Thanks for the clarification .

Tom, with all the overconfidence of many US commanders at the time is confident he can still "librrate" the area from my liberators so he wants to continue ....so we play on ![:)]

It think part of the mission is actually getting the Engineer trucks to the north, so he may miss some Event Points there... but hey, it's for fun, right?
