Help Needed

Post by joliverlay »

Got a new computer with windows 11 (had 10). Now cant get tracker to work no matter how many times I try (all day). It acts like it does not recognize the game file.

last error message:

"Could not find the main class: witptracker.Main. Program will exit."

save file in same folder as the tracker stuff, etc.

Does it have Java 7 or 8 (32bit) installed?

Do you have a lib folder in your tracker folder? There are files in it that are needed.

No action item needed, just figured I will report this.

On my Win 11 when I run the tracker from Desktop or Documents, I can run the tracker one time. When I close it & try to reopen, there is a database error & it just won't run any more after that. I can run it just fine from the root of the C drive.

The best clue I have, apart of Windows weirdness with the Desktop folder is that it is being constantly backed up by OneDrive or Google or similar service.

Sorry I missed the question above. Yes, I have Java 6 installed. The error message looks like it is generated by Java failing to find the "main program" which I assume means it can't open the save file in the same folder with the other tracker files.

I suspect it is a windows 11 problem. Running from my D: drive not C:

I've had this running on earlier versions of windows on older computers, but finally had to upgrade.

Trying to install tracker on yet another PC, and still no luck. Never finds the main file it says it looking for. I want to play Japanese side for a change, but can't without getting tracker going. Anyone else having problems. I had this running a few years ago, and did not need it as allied player, so stopped using it, but can't for the life of me install now on my main and now a back up computer.

You need to edit the witptracker.properties in the tracker folder. Contents of file below, bit that you need to edit for playing Japan Bold.

# WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific AE]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[0]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[0]

# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[abc123]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae003.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[1]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[Japan wpae001]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

Tried what you posted, does not work. Tired again, this time change to AI (as Allied) game so no confusion about which file to use (AI can have 1, PBM has 2) and tried this, still no luck with the save game file in the same folder. Error message says "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: witptracker/Main : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0" Like I said. I've used this before but not on Windows 10 or 11.

WitPTracker AE properties file
# Directory of the game
Dir=[D:\Matrix Games\War in the Pacific Admiral's Edition]
# Type of game. 0=AI, 1=PBEM
GameType=[0]
# Side you are playing. 0=Japan, 1=Allies
Side=[1]
# Password. Only needed for PBEM
Password=[]
# Name of the base save file
SaveFile=[wpae007.pws]
# Mode the program will look for save files.
# 0 = just in the local folder
# 1 = just in the game folder: [Dir]/SAVE
# 2 = local and then if not found there, the game folder
SaveMode=[0]
# Text to put in the header of the main window
Header=[wpae007]
# Turn cycle (days per turn). 1 or 2 are supported
TurnCycle=[1]

Hey guys,

Was running Tracker on my old system without issue in a PBEM campaign that's still active. Just upgraded my MoBo and transitioned to Windows 10. I can get tracker to run and load the last turn we played before I upgraded, but it won't load a new turn. There's no error message, it just doesn't do anything when I click read turn. Running Java 8 and confirmed that the properties file is pointing Tracker to the correct save directory. Any ideas? (preferably, that won't require restarting from scratch as I don't want to lose the campaign data right in the middle of the war)

Thanks!

Having some problems getting Tracker to work with the empire mod.

When i click on one of the modded in planes in the Aircraft Comparison tab i get a blank picture (though it shows up ok in the actual game) but worse tracker gets stuck and won't display any other aircraft data.

Any ideas how to fix?
Thanks

Thanks, Nomad. That did the trick. Funny, as I had been running the 64-bit version for some time with no problems. But everything is working fine now.
