On-map Air Support

In Bootcamp 4 I get an AC-47 gunship which is awesome. Problem is I'm not sure at all what I'm doing with it. I'm a FNG to this, but love this game. I've read the manual and played through the bootcamp scenarios and I'm ready to jump into the real deal. Any help on how to use this equipment would be greatly appreciated.

With the 1.10 UPDATE, you will use the AC-47 like you would a helicopter. Right now it was misflagged as an artillery piece, which you can still use, but when it the 1.10 UPDATE is available, you'll be able to fly closer to a target, unload on it and fly away.

Lucky you! I've played it twice and never got it, or the trucks either. Followed the instructions, but no luck.
