Stalin To Berlin Scen - 100 Cargo Ships?

Post by DarkHorse2 »

On comparing GC to Stalingrad to Berlin Scenarios

1st turn(Jun 41) as Germans
---------------------------
Baltic Sea Cargo Ships - 20

1st turn(Nov 42) as Germans
---------------------------
Baltic Sea Cargo Ships - 100

How is it even possible for Germany to have 100 cargo ships in Nov 42 under current WiTE2 framework?

The current cargo ship attrition rates would never let you achieve that from a Jun 41 baseline. As it is now, Germany gets whittled down to 5 cargo ships before the end of 1941 and it does not get any better.
On the first turn of each month both sides will receive
reinforcements of cargo and troop ships. Germans get 1 of
each in the Baltic and Black Seas each month.

Even considering production and zero losses, there are simply not enough months to go from 20 to 100 cargo ships.
It would take 6.67 years at the current rate of Germany's cargo ship production to reach 100 cargo ships!!!

Was Germany expected to have 100 cargo ships by Nov 1942?

I believe it has been ascertained already there is a bug or problem on Cargo ship production and how quickly they're lost - just it's not high on the priority list of stuff to get fixed.
I do not remember the thread that depicted it.

Russians lose ships even in the Caspian Sea!

I remember this being talked about a while back... and then all went dark.

Even if not a high priority, it appears to be something easy to implement - like 15 min of coding, followed up by 15 min of testing.

I assume it's a problem with how WITE2 uses a lot of WITW code.

Unless I am remembering incorrect, in that game the omnipresent risk of U-boats and such means the Western Allies need to use Naval Patrol to actively make sea-lanes safe. Just leaving them neutral means ships will still be lost.

Obviously the situation on the Eastern Front was a lot different. And you wouldn't have enough dedicated patrol aircraft to keep the sea lanes secure forever anyway.

I don't believe the WiTE2 implementation to be nearly that sophisticated.

I suspect nothing more than monthly production and weekly attrition rates.

And then WiTE2 was pushed into production, for shipping to be addressed later if enough players complained.

EDIT:

This is very common in the game industry and is not to be interpreted as derogatory in nature.
