CLOSED - Allied Player wanted not wanted any more for Bottlenecks mod

Post by JanSako »

Looking to start a new game with LST's Bottlenecks in the Pacific mod (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 8&t=309505). Full game, scenario 059; the mod starts on Dec 7 afternoon. No funny business with teleporting TF ETC is even possible & you get to keep Force Z so what's there not to love?

We had a thoroughly enjoyable game going (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 5&t=378333) but my opponent's schedule got rearranged due to the current world events.

House rules based on what is recommended by the mod creator. Beyond that I would love to limit 4E bombers to 10k & over & naval attacks of 2k & under only by dedicated 'attack bombers' (The attack bomber capable plane models are all labeled in this mod, how awesome!).
Oh, and let's not do strato-sweeps... been seeing stuff like 'Ki-43 Oscar Ic sweeping at 30 000 feet' & other ridiculous nonsense in some AAR's. Max sweep height is the top of the second highest maneuverability band.

Please review this doc before responding (https://www.dropbox.com/s/9jl0vtagzawh8 ... .docx?dl=0), but if you think DBB-C is too complex & focuses too much on logistics then this match is probably not for you.
I can do a turn a day most days, if not two BUT do not feel that you have to. I am OK with a slower pace, but at least 5 turns or so a week would be desirable.

Have you had any interest. I would like to take the allied side. One big caveat is I have only played against the computer so far so I will be a total newb in PBEM. I have played DBB and other variants and feel very comfortable with the game mechanics but will need to install the version and make sure we match. I will be going on vacation next week so will have a slow start due to it.

Just posted the offer yesterday, now I do have interest :-)

I am by no means an experienced PBEM player myself & it has been many years since I even had a game go to '43. I am not a min-maxer either, more like 'this is historical and/or plausible/logical' IRL.

This is one of the reasons I like the Bottlenecks mod, with its need to watch out for civilians (as Allied), the changes in China & many more.

My suggestion is that if you or anyone is interested, install the mod & load Scen 059 in H2H just to see what both players have to contend with in the beginning. You may run screaming but you WILL be impressed!

I went through the menus and it looks fine. Lots of new stuff to work with but I will be fine with it. What version are of ITP AE are you running? My version shows as 1.7.1124 and I just updated to the beta b version as suggested in the version description. I will look through the info on doing a pbem game.

The PBEM looks straight forward with you going first. and sending me the file for my input. The first turn will require a lot of input from me and I will take quite a bit of time to work through the bases and TF's. Should get better every turn after that until we hit our stride though.

OK I am happy to hear this!

I do have the 11.26b (Beta) & the latest version of the Bottlenecks mod.

Please review the full set of House rules & let me know if you would like to add/change anything. These make quite a lot of difference from a SP game! Nothing crazy here, just like to have everything clear ahead of time.

- Restricted units must pay full PP to cross national borders (buy them out first), 'Fully' restricted units can never do so
- 4E bombers limited to attacks of 10k and over
- Naval attacks under 2000ft only by dedicated assault bombers (in the game they are indicated by an "_" at the end of the model name).
- Strat bombing in/out of China at any time is OK with me.
- Sweep mission limited to the top of the 2nd highest maneuverability band for the given aircraft model
- No strat moving along dashed railroads until ports are at max standard level along the whole section
- Only one attack by 'Doolittle Raiders' special CAG, then they must disband.
- Historical start as described in the mod doc (No further air attacks allowed on turn 1)
- Hospital ships & hospital units, as well as 'water ships' must stay together in the same base
- NO 'carpeting the sea' with single-ship xAKL & such to act as an 'early warning' system. I don't think the crews would be real happy IRL if you make them do that. In general, let's stay away from gamey stuff & obvious game engine exploits.

Please confirm or propose any changes, I can start on the initial setup in the meantime.

How do I know when a railroad is dashed or not. They look the same to me some thick some thin.
Also for some reason my install of the game is not showing the aircraft icons for the US bases until i click on them and then they show up. Other nationalities are all fine.

There are only a few dashed railroads on the map.
- China - check out the one going from Shanghai to the west, the dashed lines start about 2 hexes W of Shanghai where it becomes Chinese controlled. There is more around Changsha & between Loyang & Sian.

Burma - going NW from Bangkok. Basically a Japanese player must build/rebuild this railroad before units can be strat moved between Thailand & Burma. Right now everyone must walk.

Sorry, can't help much with the display issue. Bets I can suggest is switches (dd_SW?), but if it worked before I have no idea...

The display issue is not a problem just an irritant. The railroad that need to be built will not be an issue either as I do not see the allied player being in use of them so not an issue there. I just wanted to make sure the RR's in India are not a problem.

OK, I have started the initial setup. I will probably be a couple of days at least, but we can now close this thread.

If email is OK to send turns, please send me your preferred address in DM.

Good luck & please do not hesitate to ask anything!
