How do I take George Town?

Post by BananaConvention »

Please tell me this doesn't take an Amphib assault but I don't relish trying to get a troop ship down the Malacca Strait right now. I get this message when I try to move units there but it seems as though the hex has land on it. This is me trying to move a unit from Alor Star to George Town:

You need to understand what the message is telling you. Plus you should use the F6 key to show the hex sides. If you look at the picture below
you will see that you can not move directly form Alor Star to Georgetown, you have to move a hex SE first and then into Georgetown.
You can not move an LCU across a blue hexsisde.
And as a further note, if you look at the LCU in question after you tell it to move from Alor Start to Georgetown you will see that it
is set to move to the SE.

What do the green and white hex lines mean? I can't seem to find it in the manual.

See section 4.2.2 in the manual.

4.2.2 VIEWING HEXSIDE TERRAIN
Hexsides are normally black, but you can toggle Colored Hexsides off and on in the Preferences
Menu or with the F6 key to view the hexside terrain types (see section 4.2.1.2 for a list of
hexside terrain types). Colored hexsides comprise five colors:
»» Blue = Ocean/Lake hexside - Naval unit movement only
»» Purple = River hexside - Ground unit movement only
»» Green = Ground unit movement only
»» White = Both Naval and Ground unit movement
»» Red = Impassable hexside - No Naval or Ground unit movement

Thank you for the lesson. I am now using F6 to plan my moves between hexes. I won't make that mistake any more!
