AG North Turn 17
The noose around Leningrad tightens as 4th Pz pushes towards the lake Ports in a effort to completely cut the city off from help, further South the slog by 16th Armee continues as The Soviets fall back.
The weather continues to get worse and supply lines are not catching up fast enough.

On the Moscow Front 3rd Pz pushes towards Kalinin and traps some Russian DIVs hoping to flank the defenders digging in.
Further south 2nd Pz destroys the pockets surrounded earlier, it seems unlikely due to the weather I can reach Tula.
The troops are just worn out and fatigued for another major push.

AG South Turn 17
All Russian troops in pockets are destroyed and Stalino is within striking distance despite Red Army resistance and the heavy rain now covering The Ukraine.
In the Crimea I race to secure ports and trap the defenders at Sevastopol, The Soviets have appeared to have abandoned the rest of the peninsula.
I think Stalino may be my last big objective in the south as time is running out for me.

Russian Forces under 2.5 million at this time, I'm hopeful.

The situation is getting worse for the Army and not much better for The Luftwaffe.

Losses Turn 17
The Soviets are taking heavy losses, though Tank units are getting harder to trap and destroy, they being my primary targets, still as the POW's continue to rise it will be less enemies I have to fight in the winter.
Very close to the 3 million POW mark.

Air Losses Turn 17
Well some modest losses to The Russian Air Force considering the weather situation, the good thing is we are losing very little at this time.

Beginning to reorganise the forces around Leningrad with 18th Armee taking over duty of encircling the City, 4th Pz will now begin a concentrated attack along the Volkhov River.
South of these positions 16th Armee facing little or no opposition as the Russians are moving there troops to oppose 4th Pz.

It seems that Kalinin will not be taken, my Armies are to overextended, time clear the remaining pockets and consolidate my positions, the good news is I took Orel.
Need to start preparing for winter and try to pull the Pz units back to rest and refit.

A G South Turn 18
I launch a Front wide attack with just about every Armee unit and trap and number of Soviet units in the process, elements of 1st Pz push through and reach Stalino.
Down in the Crimea units from 11th Armee head towards the Kerch straits, I am hoping to cross and take as much territory as I can and tie down as many Russian troops I can there.

Supply Turn 18
I shudder to look at the figures even though I have quite a few rail heads right up to the front line, so I must be doing some thing really wrong here now.
I am only getting a third of what I need for both services, not good.

Well this could go close to being the lowest amount of casualties I have inflicted on the Soviets in this game thus far, of course I was never going to be able to maintain those high scores all through the game.

The Russian numbers are starting to climb, while there is a dip in mine.
The OKW has begun its pulled out of my much needed troops, this will not help come Dec.

Re: Drive To The Caucasus - A 41 Campaign
Are you playing without FoW?
Re: Drive To The Caucasus - A 41 Campaign
No FOW on, maybe sometime in the future I will play a game with that setup.
Also I have the AI at 100 level, I am just not that confident to set it at higher rate.
I like a challenge but not that good at the game yet to even consider giving the AI more benefits.
Its doing pretty good at level its on
cheers
Re: Drive To The Caucasus - A 41 Campaign
How do you see that it is rifle divisions, for example back after Moscow, I doubt that you fly recon there.
Same near Voronezh and Saratov lol.
It is because this divisions were on the front and then teleports to a back?

Apparently its one of the benefits given to the AI to give it a chance to give the human player a run for his money.Stamb wrote: Sun Feb 27, 2022 10:34 am How do you see that it is rifle divisions, for example back after Moscow, I doubt that you fly recon there.

Your right the AI has ability to teleport units for repeated attacks otherwise we humans would just run amok against it.
I learnt this from one of the testers when I did my very first AAR , it can be frustrating at times when 1 or 1 group of units is being attacked 5 to 10 times repeatedly.
You learn to deal with it after a while, of course this kind of thing will not happen in H v H game.
The thing about about playing the AI once you survive the first winter its relatively to win ( well i think so ) so just whether you want to play the long game or set yourself target date to beat it.
And I'm hardly a expert at this game, still get my supply chain even remotely right during the winter months.
cheers

The situation in the North has become a crawl with heavy rain, mud and Russian resistance stiffening, both 16th and 4th Pz Armee's are bogged down.
Around Leningrad 18th Armee prepares for winter and fortifying there lines so that units can be broken down to cover the front.
In fact just about all of Army Group North's DIV's are now at Regiment level to cover the entire front.

AG Centre Turn 19
I am beginning to reorganise the entire central front, hoping to put infantry unit on the line mechanised forces behind for reserve activation and counter attacks in the event of a break through.
Its very long front line and in most places i have had to also break down units into regiments to cover the it.
This is worrying there is just not enough troops to fill the gaps and have reserves also.
I keep reading on the forums how players are putting some or all of there Pz units in the reserve for refit.
How is this even possible I can barely cover line even using Pz DIV's, whats the secret here.

Weather Turn 19
Well that Oct weather has struck and turned Russia into a quagmire, units will be moving in slow motion for a while until the snow hits.
Then the fun really begins.
