• BUT... mighty Kekoskee has only minor damage of 8-7(2)-1(1)-0 and has lost only 1 knot of cruising speed.

• Convoys are rerouting slightly to avoid interception by the IJN fleet. I think they will only catch up to one or two convoys if they dash southwest right past Marcus Island, and do it far enough to overcome the jog I put into the course of those two convoys.

• I figure the enemy raiders will continue to head southeast into the now empty shipping lanes.

• Enemy retreat from Tsuyung continues, now 2 hexes from roadblock.

• Imperial Tsuyung withdrawal continues. The lead units must have a target on the Chungking plain because they are routing around the roadblock even though they are now 2 hexes away from it on the road. It remains to be seen if the Empire will change plans and try to run the roadblock.

• The roadblock is the highlighted hex in the pic.

• Movement onto the plain and into Chungking continues.

• Movement of forces from Kweiyang toward Chihkiang continues.

• The armored spearhead is now east of Canton, running for Kanhsien.

• TF Amoy should enter that place in 2 days but will likely have to fit a division in addition to the ~5,000 troops already there. Cruiser bombardments will help. TF Amoy is 425 AV.

• It's probably useful that an enemy division has diverted to Amoy. It might have been headed for Kanhsien. I want our spearhead to grab Kanhsien by coup de main.

• Enemy Tsuyung withdrawal continues. They are not over stacking as we would like, but at least we are blocking the road and therefore easy supply flow. With the enemy routing through the countryside to avoid the roadblock we will pull out the tanks and the paratroopers and send them to Chungking to help speed matters there.

• An enemy unit has appeared just NE of Neikiang. Possibly one of those ejected from Neikiang earlier. A large Chinese Army corps will engage it.

• More troops have marched onto the Chungking plain. One large unit will join the march into Chungking and another will continue to recover disabled squads for now.

• Our movement to Chihkiang continues.

• Our armored spearhead moving on Kanhsien has detoured from the primary on to the secondary road, indicating an enemy unit somewhere on the route ahead. That could be deliberate or it could be more enemy moving toward Amoy.

• tomorrow TF Amoy will enter Amoy, but the enemy division already has. The airfield will be bombed to prevent fort building and cruisers will stage to bombard in support the the ground assault the day after.

• Enemy withdrawal from Tsuyung still underway, but it appears enemy units have adjusted course toward the roadblock.

• We will leave the tanks at the roadblock for now.

• The Chinese Army 85th Corps should intercept the enemy 1 hex NE of Neikiang tomorrow.

• We have 2,416 AV moving into Chungking. The 85th Corps can supplement that, as can the Indian Army 44th Parachute Division moving back from near the roadblock.

Instead of a direct assault on Nagasaki (which has a fortress or two), you might want to consider Kurume just behind Nagasaki. Kurume can be reached from both SW and NW of Nagasaki.

I can't land directly at Kurume, meaning everything has to pass through an enemy base hex on the way, so I ruled it out. Easier to use naval bombardments to support ground assaults too.

Nagasaki/Sasebo is clear terrain, like Kurume is, so it shouldn't be as bad as it might. There are currently ~100,000 enemy at Nagasaki/Sasebo, so it will be tough. It's the third major HI target so it will be more about opening up a third front. N/S will merge with the Kanoya front when successful, and at that point all of Kyushu will be ours.

So part of the intent with N/S is to stress the defense and tie up defenders.

• There are now 2 enemy units 1 hex NW of Neikiang, in addition to the 1 unit 1 hex NE of Neikiang. Dive bombers from Neikiang will hit those 2 units to slow them and identify them. The Indian 44th Parachute Division, 2 hexes NW of Neikiang, is already on the move and might move into the hex with those 2 units.

• The Chinese 85th Corps is 1 hex NE of Neikiang and will attack tomorrow.

• So are these 3 enemy units NE and NW of Neikiang an actual counterattack or a weak, harassing maneuver being made by the units which were expelled from Neikiang by our forces?

• All units to begin the assault on Chungking will be in place in about 2 days.

He has lots of wounded units with low AV from all the friction in the last few months so I doubt those units near Neikiang have much punch. He also seems to be in general retreat, trying to save as many units as he can - presumably to rail back to Korea and ship to the home islands. So my guess is that those are sacrificial units to interdict your supply lines and perhaps let his units approaching your roadblock find a way through.
