No doubt that's true, but the image attachment system states that we can upload files and attach them here on the site.

I have always loaded a locally saved jpeg from my art folder that I created in Paint or Paint equivalent.

So to put pictures in my AAR now, I will have to use an online hosting service?

I believe we are all being incredibly honest here and not hostile....obviously this forum is something near and dear to all our hearts and we all want to see it thrive.

I was able to post pictures for several days time in my AAR in the new forum, then I couldn't. I didn't change my method of posting pictures....unless I accidentally tripped a switch. I am certainly ham-handed and stupid enough to do that. However I don't think that is the case in this instance given other members inability to post pictures and graphics too.

M new assessment is that the forum performance is going in reverse. I got multiple 500 errors just trying to get here and the board is now as slow if not slower that the original one. No PMs, no attachments, I guess it is time to leave for a few days or weeks and wait to see if the problems get ironed out.

I will miss the old emojis, they gave the old forum a lot of personality.

edit: After several attempts to upload a picture via the attachments I came to the conclusion that it either doesn't work at the moment or the way it works is not very intuitive.

edit 2: This may be an issue on my side, but I have the impression that the performance of the new forum is actually worse.

All in all, I think there is a lot of potential in the new forum software, but there is probably still a lot of work to be done.

Wow.
I genuinely meant this innocently.

The functionality on this forum is the same as on Steam, on our other forums and on all phpBB forums. Which is basically every forum these days, as it's really the only open forum software left that's both mainstream and still being developed.

But, I do get it, if you've never used these types of forums before it's not obvious. That's all I meant and I am passing along that feedback.

Please don't assign hostile intent to me, there isn't any. I am doing my best to pass along your feedback and help where I can, that's all.

That's fine, and thanks for the clarification. But the question still stands. Is the link button under the new forum going to have LESS FUNCTIONALITY than it did under the old? Because if so, how can "making it harder to do things" possibly be justified? Maybe I'm missing something, but "modern" should mean "improved", or at least, "not worse".

And I'm still waiting for somebody to say whether - yes or no - the existing embedded links will be fixed. I can see that "link" has now changed to "url", but since images posted under the old code have been converted to appear under the new, can something similar be done with embedded links? As you know, the whole point of a seamless conversion is to capture the data from the old system and present it properly under the new. Not trying to convince system users that something which is patently worse is actually better, or - no offense - "modern". ;)

And, credit where it's due, I noticed that the attachments in my linked posts have magically reappeared (recognizing of course that it wasn't magic, but folks working to fix a problem - kudos to them)

On those email notifications, it used to be that you could see what the subject of the new thread was without opening the email (which I liked) but now the notification is all "New topic in the witpae forum blah blah blah Hello geofflambert blah blah blah" and nothing about what the new thread is about unless I go to each one of the notices and open them. I never used to open them at all but if I really wanted to jump on the new thread I'd open a new tab and go to the forum. Whether I did or didn't I always just deleted the notice once I saw it. Now I'll just delete them without knowing what the new thread was about until the next time I decide to open the forum. Useless.

Sorry, it was difficult to follow along with exactly what your issue was. It was not a "deflection". I am doing my best to answer your questions in the face of your extremely hostile feedback.
Kull, I suggest when you're frustrated with Edmon that instead of letting him have it just award him with bent carrots. One carrot if you're merely irritated and up to four carrots if steam is coming out of your ears.
