My pet hate now is I can't search for a phrase? All I wanted to do was search for 'Type 3 Mine', NOT type, 3 or mine but the phrase. hHow do you search for a phrase. How it done I had to resort to google search which found it straight away. Poor.

I think the search engine tries to find the whole phrase first and after that every single occurrence of the words.
As far as I can tell there are two problems why you couldn't find the information you were looking for:
1. The search field at the top of the site searches the whole matrix forum, not only the sub forum you are currently in.
2. The results are not strictly sorted for relevance but for post date at default settings.

To be able to find a post that explained what Type 3 Mines are I had to click on the cogwheel to get to the advanced search.
Then I set the filter to only search this sub forum and to only search in topic titles.
You would be able to find the post even without limiting the search to topic titles, buy you would need to get to the corresponding page for the post date. In the first page only results from 2022 are displayed.

I think the sorting function is currently the main problem as it doesn't properly sort the results after relevance.
So yes, google searching the forum is still the way to go.

For most search engines you need to add quotes for phrases: “reserve panzer divisions”.

I tried just before I posted and it did not find it, I've tried just now and it did? But that's occurance is not the first time I've search for a phrase that I know exists and found nothing. If it was the only occurance then I'd say I typed incorrectly.

I've just copied the post titled '*URGENT* - fragments of air groups affect 5 group limit on carriers'. There's a 10 word limit to phrases so it won't find the whole thing plus there's the *. After various search combinations this happened.

fragments of air groups affect 5 group limit - did not find
air groups affect 5 group limit on carriers - did find

I know it's a long phrase but it's recent and it does show something amiss.

In none of the searches I did not use qoutes.

They are in your Browser Bar.
There is a whole new system as well as brand new numbers.

It looks like it is going to stay that way.

Can I please ask anyone with feedback, tips, suggestions and issues with the new forum to NOT post them in the AE sub-forum, but instead to post them in the pinned global announcement threads (visible from every sub-forum at the top of your page) regarding the new forum? Keeping all the feedback there will be a tremendous help to me in making sure we are aware of all the remaining issues with the conversion.

Regards,

- Erik
