The Convoy, Kyiv, 2022 (Updated 31 March 2022)
Please bear in mind this is a current event scenario, and take it for what it is...
The Convoy, Ukraine, 2022
(Independence Day meets the Evil Empire????)
Al "Beirutdude" Sandrik
The Time Is: Saturday, 5 March 2022, 16:00 UTC
Saturday, 5 March, 2022, 18:00 Kyiv Time
Playable as NATO Only
24 Hours Duration (18 hours for Combat Ops)
Built under C:MO BETA Build 1147.42 Database DB3000 v492
Background: Written on 4-5 March 2022 as the war was ongoing: I keep hearing from “Armchair Generals” and “Keyboard Warriors” how we need to attack “The Convoy” (BTW using the A-10C’s that aren’t even in Europe, They’re in GA, AZ and the ROK!!!!!). OK, so what if NATO actually put together a rapidly developed operation only using NATO airbases and aircraft in theater? No this isn’t an exhaustive list of every NATO aircraft but folks there are only so many airbases within range of Kyiv (and when you look at it even that is a stretch), thus only so much tarmac space.
Notes:
This is a complex airstrike operation. You have six (6) hours built in to load out your aircraft.
You receive points for destroying Russian units and especially “The Convoy.” You lose points for loosing NATO aircraft.
Loadouts are short on some ammo on purpose, not enough time to move it to forward bases.
The mix of NATO airframes reminds me of Independence Day with ex-Soviet, Swedish, American, French and European birds all in the same mission!
Scoring: 0 points = Disaster and 9,000 a Triumph
Built under C:MO Build 1147.42 Database DB3000 v492
A Delta File is provided for deep rebuilds.

Also, before anyone jumps on me, I pray for all of the people caught up in this conflict. I've been in a city at war and have seen it first hand. I just pray it stops before it coes too far!

Oh I wouldn't worry about that. This is a wargame group.BeirutDude wrote: Sat Mar 05, 2022 4:32 pm Also, before anyone jumps on me, I pray for all of the people caught up in this conflict. I've been in a city at war and have seen it first hand. I just pray it stops before it coes too far!

Good day all,
I'm getting a database error when I load this file.
What database do I need to have, because the error message I am getting tells me I have the wrong DB loaded

I use 1.87 for Tacview. Can you see the 3DM models in red/blue color for both sides or only orange for both sides?
Re: The Convoy, Kyiv, 2022 (Posted 5 March 2022)
It loaded fine for me on the most recent CMO build (.42)1nutworld wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:06 am Good day all,

I hadn't downloaded the 47.42, and that was the issue. I since have corrected. Thanks for the reply and letting me know!stww2 wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 6:33 pmIt loaded fine for me on the most recent CMO build (.42)1nutworld wrote: Sun Mar 06, 2022 10:06 am Good day all,

I noted the Luftwaffe Tornadoes didn't have enough HARMs and upped the loadouts to 72. So if you want load it in the Edit and bump the numbers up.

Will do! Always a fan of additional HARMs, especially with an IADS at play.
Re: The Convoy, Kyiv, 2022 (Posted 5 March 2022)
Just finished picking the loadouts for my initial SEAD strike tonight and will run it tomorrow. One question that came up for me while I was selecting the loadouts: the 493rd FS in the scenario use a F-15C variant that can only equip Sparrows. Is this accurate? It strikes me as odd that the US would still have non-AMRAAM capable air superiority fighters deployed on the frontlines in 2022, but I'm also hardly an expert on these things...
Regardless, looks like a promising scenario and I look forward to trying it!

Gotta admit, this one was fun, but boy did the SAMs wreak HAVOC on my attempts to stifle the Radars!!
I was doing pretty well taking out the Russian AWACS and fighters, but SOMETHING sure put a whooping on my side's ass when attempting to knock out the ground convoys. No Jamming ability for NATO either to help hinder the SAM effectiveness. That would be a complaint I have. IF I were to offer one. Gonna have to try this again on my next day off work. See if I can come up with a better ARM strike plan.

What do you think of this?
Out of the two Russian S-400 batteries deployed to Luninets, one remains in place, whereas the second has been probably replaced by inflatables or dummy/decoys. More in Issue 18 of Ukraine Conflict Monitor

Re: The Convoy, Kyiv, 2022 (Posted 5 March 2022)
excellent scenario i will play it.
any idea if there is more than four a50 russian mainstays at Baranavichy airbase monitoring ukraine? do they still have 24h coverage after 12 days or can nato slip an isr aircraft in between coverage gaps? i figured a predator might be able to get into ukraine near the kyiv convoy without a50 mainstay detection. get a better look at it.

Re: The Convoy, Kyiv, 2022 (Posted 5 March 2022)
Thanks for the scenario. Really blew off some steam with it. Drew a draw but thems the breaks.
Ok some oob request.
F-15Cs at Siliac are the 1984 version. Could you update with the latest version?
There are MQ-1B and C detachments in Romania and Poland.
Lask is the main F-16 base in Poland. US is forward deployed there (F-15, F-15E, and F-35 Detachments)
Likewise USAF, Dutch, Italian and Germany detachments in Romania and Bulgaria.
Kushan has a good special action for readying aircraft instantly in his Iran scenario. PM me if you need some help with it. I play a ton of your scenarios so it's a win for me.
Thanks again!
Mike
