Please allow the player to control the repair of airfields & ports, perhaps with an on/off switch like there is for industry.

It would stop the practice of suppressing fort building by bombing AF/Ports. It is just such an unrealistic thing, why would my engineers keep filling holes in an airfield I do not need instead of shoring up ground fortifications that I do need?

This may be way too complex a code change but one can always wish, right?

A lot of talk about screens and all those nice extra helpprograms, BUT how about some smaller Errata. Ships that are double and such.
I put in some of these, even missing in AndyMac superb updates over the years. (I did mentioned them in his thread but fear he missed that info so I put them here too)

IDs 7401 and 8804 are both xAK Vernon S. Hood arriving within 5 days (may -45), but not same place. One at Balboa the other at Alameda. The mistake probably popped up because a space more in one of the names.

IDs 7383 and 8428 is both Granville S Hall, one have a dot S. the other not. So easy a double.

For these two Crater-class cargo ship one could usethe missing USS-Ara (AK-136) and USS Car Caroli (AK-81), both missing in all standard scenarios, and as far as I can read they both was in the Pacific.

Also I might be wrong on this but I found a Col. Sims,A as an Army officer among the leaders. Now the one Sims I know was The Iron Duke that was in command of 7th Marines in the Batte of Henderson/Guadalcanal.
In my game a Col Frisbie is in command of the 7th Marine, but he only got the command after Guadalcanal.
I'm thinking on at least that Col Sims,A listed as US Army leader should be changed to US Marine officer.
Just to stop him turning in his grave angry over joining the Army

Easy to change for anyone BUT why not fix it in a final patch ?????
Thanks for these suggestions. Happy for other OOB issues to be pointed out as well.

Can we move the Dock/Undock button so its not right below the Disband button? Can't tell you how many times I've hit disband on TFs instead of dock.

Yes same! And then you lose the PP's for the commander you have to redo...

Moving the button is a bit difficult with the tight constraints of the screen. Can add a confirmation prompt so can back out of the 'Disband'.

That would be excellent, disband is not a command used a huge amount so an extra click would not be terrible.

Would it be possible to expand the size of the combat summary during turns? This will reduce the clicks (or keys pressed) needed to reveal the full combat summary.

Thanks for considering this.

I've always thought the same. And it would be great if the combat animation did not cover up the spot where the combat is actually happening. It would be great if the spot was shown and the combat animation moved over to reveal where the combat is actually happening on the map...

I guess this the place to ask this: Is the last official patch still the "official game" or is the Beta?

I sorta didn't visit the forum until there were already 12 pages of stuff on this thread so I wasn't too keen on reading all those pages so I have a few questions that, if answered, more or less summarize the changes:

1) Is DaBabes in some form envisioned as the BETA change?

2) Is some form of expanded map (mostly more bases in Burma and China plus a bit of movement of existing bases to adjacent hexes) envisioned as the BETA change?

I can answer this one. Yes, an expanded map is being considered (and tested).

Hotkey for "Patrol around hex" would save few clicks when assigning submarines.

Not a priority thing, though. 8-)

TRACOM pilots once at a certain # will not only accelerate training times, but increase training pilot experience above the national limits (from another thread).

With the update, will games against the AI be able to utilize the extended map and stacking limits without "breaking things?"

It may be too late to ask for this or impractical to code, but I figure if you don't ask, you don't get!

Can we have something that lists ship kills for things like submarines? When you read the history of subs in WW2, you can't help but read stats on the names, numbers and tonnages of the ships each sub was accountable for. I have tried it before but it does become a bit of an accounting headache. If this is doable that would be great and add some nice flavor to the game. We track pilot aces, why not subs (or sub skippers)? They sure did in the real war!

One more request. Is there any way to add a column to this screen that shows the number of days it'll take a TF to reach it's destination off-screen? I know the data exists as obviously if you click on each TF individually it'll tell you but this would make it a lot easier to sort through, thanks for considering!

Hi,

Please excuse my ignorance but where can I find a link to the latest version of the game engine?

I am running version 1.8.1126b from some years ago. I found a PBEM opponent and I want to make sure we both have the latest version.

I found it under Tech Support.

Thank you.

1126b is the latest version, but be aware that a corrected/revised map is being worked on by Andrew Brown (see his thread), and this is a "final update" thread where players are posting their requests for revisions to the game engine, some of which will be put into effect. Depending how many turns you can do per day, your game will take months to years to finish so if you start with 1126b, you must be OK with possibly not being able to upgrade to a new version mid-game.
