ELO game ends:

DmitryN (Allies) defeats petedalby (Axis) with the 'UK attacks Japan early' ploy to rob Japan of all its scheduled Special Forces. Hard to invade SE Asia with no invasion forces.

I see others are already adopting this gambit as the Allies which I guess is to be expected.

Great game & great opponent though.

What is best counter to this gambit? I suppose some garrison units would make sense.

House rules and/or patch.

It cant be the intention of game design to make Japanese expansion in the Pacific more difficult. And it is not a viable fix for Japanese expansion in China.

Too soon to impose restrictions. Now that this strategy is visible let's see if players adopt their own responses to counter. More play testing required, but the best solution for the Axis is to play the Race to Victory Scenario (tournament) and take appropriate steps to consolidate gains through 1945 and win.

ELO Result and notification of new game:

1. RESULT: firsteds (allies) defeated SCOLDGAMER (axis)

Fun game with plenty of action across the board. Tight in Russia, but the new changes helped China repulse Japan and we actually had some action in the Pacific. Axis resigned.

2. NEW GAME: firsteds (axis) v SCOLDGAMER (allies)

We started a mirror game.

No this wasn't an ELO game. We set this up separately- deliberately on my part because I wanted to test a new strategy.

If you wish to redo as an ELO game, I'm happy for a rematch :-) I don't think I'd surprise you again.

No problems. I also did not posted here our previous game which you stoped becouse of lack of time. I am ready for rematch now if you wish.

DavidDailey (Axis) vs calcwerc (Allies)
Standard house rules + allies will not attack Japanese spawning points in Pacific prior to Japanese war with the US.

[LOSS] ElvisJJonesRambo (Axis) vs PeteDalby (Allies)

Axis surrender Early Summer 1944.
Built Rockets, completely worthless. Had Level 4 with +2 experience. Suppose to do collateral damage, doesn't.
In Pacific, did the Pachoc training. Had stellar Ships. There was one decent Naval battle near Tarawa. Pretty much an exchange, but that held the islands for awhile longer than usual. Japs squeezed & contained China despite the training exercise. Japan held the usual territory and quite safe in 1944.

Problem was Russia, of course. Attempted a Rocket shelling on Leningrad, no dice. The Rockets suck. The instructions state I should be getting 50% chance of collateral damage, never happens. Appears to only happen on ports. Which means notta. Had 2-Rockets, Level #4, Experience #2, they suck. Allies took Italy down by the typical suicide swarm of Morale cities. Germans held off an Anzio attack. Rather historical, actually. Allies bought of the Greeks, for the most part Romanians with some help, held in 1944.

In Russia, I'm missing 1500 MMPs buying Rockets. Leningrad failed, pulled back the attempt. Russians played agressive attacks. Was busy countering, which means slow death.

In France, the countryside was littered with Fortresses. My opponent was tired of being bogged in Romania/Italy/Russia, so the Yanks did a stellar move to take Netherlands and the port. With Forts/Corps in France, became a reverse worthless Maginot Line. Yank/Brits Bombers reduced key trains to rubble. Meanwhile, the real invasion in 1944 was Netherlands. Good move.

Game over, I'll never buy Rockets, ever. Worthless.

New ELO game begins: EarlyDoors (Allies) vs petedalby (Axis). Trying to break a losing streak as the Axis - but I'm sure EarlyDoors will be trying to extend it.

ELO Game ended: OldAHGamer (Allies) vs KlasE - OldAHGamer won in summer 46 after a hard fought game. KlasE as Axis was aggressive in the early game with a SeaLion, and had the UK in the winter of 40/41. However American and Russian increased activation levels meant a tough fight in the USSR and a strong USA from beginning. Still, Hawaii fell and by the end of the game the US was close to surrrender based on morale alone. But Ivan was very strong throughout the game, with the Axis never getting much past Smolenk and the Dnepr. Good game.
