Hey,
is it possible to determine or to decide where a station exactly will be built (i. e. on which side of a planet or where in an asteroid field?)
Waiting for tomorrow

How does DW2 create planetary systems?
Of Course, we do not exactly know what planetary systems look like, but there is a difference to be expected between a Type O star and a Type M star, for example.
And what about the distribution of different star types?
Type M stars seem to be more numerous than Type O stars, for example.

so... there is no way to disband a ship? That is a big miss if true. In just three hours I have an explorer stuck in nebula and 3 frigates bugged during jump and reappeared on another side of a galaxy. Now I have 4 ships I can't do nothing with - they just stuck there, cluttering UI and draining maintenance cost.

I would suggest that you post a save in the tech sub-forum....GPlGSMl wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:30 pm so... there is no way to disband a ship? That is a big miss if true. for glitched firgates yeah, but for nebulas it works as expected I believe - it is just a game mechanic conflictbtd64 wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:57 pmI would suggest that you post a save in the tech sub-forum....GPlGSMl wrote: Thu Mar 10, 2022 10:30 pm so... there is no way to disband a ship? Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
Hi,
I'm playing my first game now and I love it.
The following questions came up:
1. Is there somewhere a explanation what all of the symbols mean (eg all "system symbols" like Fuel Source etc.).
2. Could anyone explain the difference between exploring and surveying?
3. Do I have to take care about "hidden items" manuelly if I do automatic exploration? If so, how?
4. Do sensor systems stack? Does it make sense to put two Short Sensor Arrays on one ship?
Thanks

2. Survey can explore a planet to a much higher degree, but at the cost of needing much more time.Philoponus wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 6:59 am Hi,

3. The default setting has the Explorers Survey anything that is colonizeable or has Hidden items
4. I do not think they do, but have not tested it,
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
What is the benefit of "Scientist Location"?
According to the Galactopedia:
"Scientists apply research benefits when they are onboard a research station [...]"
In my early game, the automation moved my first scientist (+7% hi-tech research) to my research station (+16% reactor research). Looking at my Global Research Bonus screen I see the expected amount by hovering each categories (ie: +16%reactor, +7%hi-tech, etc.).
So I cannot find the reason of moving scientists to specific stations.. Are they some hidden added benefits if they are of the same research types? Or some undocumented synergies?

So "explore" is detecting also the resources of a planet and not "only" the planet type and name as in other Space 4X?
3. So why do I get a notification that there are hidden items if they are surveyd immediatly anyhow?

There is a Exploration Level.
Normal Exploration goes up to "Exploration Level X".
Survey goes up to "Exploration Lavel Y", but takes much more time.
At a pretty low exploration level, the existence of hidden stuff becomes clear.
All exploration stops when the game says "fully explored".
By default, the Survey is only used when:
- planet is colonizeable
- planet is populated
- planet has Hidden Items (left)

Love the game! I turned all automations (except ship design) off and find it easier to learn than expected. But I have one main question so far: Is there a reason not to spam mining station everywhere? Do the private economy has to maintain them? Or the state? Thanks in advance
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
The private economy has to maintain them. And they can not scrap them. It is trivial to crash your Private economy that way.Mightymaster wrote: Fri Mar 11, 2022 9:19 am Love the game! Also keep in mind that mining ships are a thing. They can deal with the odd resource not covered by your mining stations.

Hello, there was some talk a while ago about this being added to GeForce now (possibly day one but unsure). I was wondering if this was still being done, and if so if there was an ETA?
Is there any way to change the name of star systems? Tried the editor, but it seems i can only name stars and planets, system remains the same.
