Fully automated explorers not exploring home system?

Post by secondcircle »

Can anyone offer any insight into why this is the case?
I have skip drivers, plenty of fuel. Not sure why they are idle where there are allot of locations left to explore in my home system.

It's possible the unexplored locations have asteroids. Asteroids typically aren't considered by automated explorers until you equip them with resource scanners.

Some do, I research the scanners, retrofitted, and they are still idle. Very confused.

It's also possible the overlay is bugging out. I know there was a bug with locations claiming to not be fully explored while actually being fully explored. It might not have gotten fixed before release.

Check those locations and see if everything is marked explored when you select it. If so, you can just assume it's a false positive.

I had my explorers scan the Asteroids around my Homeplanet with preference over Planets in the system. This might have been a very specific exception for the Home Planets asteroids ring, but still not quite as easy.

Plus when they have nothing else to do, who cares if the operation is subotimal?

No, one location was a planet that was not explored. I had to manually assign a explorer to explore it.

One explanation I can think of is that there was a pirate at that planet at some point in the past. The planet would have been marked as "dangerous" (red lightning symbol) and automated explorers would have avoided it until you sent a ship to make sure it was safe.

Okay, I have a variant of this issue:
- I have the 2nd FTL to go to far stars
- the Ship is not yet upgraded to the new FTL
- I have the money and income to upgrade it (and then some)

The ship is just sitting there, doing nothing.
No scanning of asteroids
No flying back for a retrofit

Just. Sitting. There.

Maybe you accidentally flipped it to manual control?

No.

I double checked. Despite the color - Blue - being clearly different from Green.

Can you show me your save? Maybe I can figure out what's going on.

Saves are in data\SavedGames under the installation directory. Zip your save and attach it to your forum post.

Unfortunately I already overwrite the savegame twice. I will try to secure one next time.

The first game I loaded up had the same issues. Scouts just sat there doing nothing even with auto explore on and the AI seemed stalled overall. Then I abandoned that game and restarted and all seems well now. Stuff like this is easy to overlook on QA runs because it can be hard to replicate the action and there are always more obvious bugs to chase and document.
