Global scouting / exploration queue Hey,

Post by James80 »

Hey guys,

I am new to the party (bought DW:U last year but have not logged a lot of hours in) and perhaps I am missing a point:

There are several global queues for constructing or attacking. But I miss one for scouting. I like my scouts automated but sometimes I want them to look at a special planet / system. At the moment I have to look for (the nearest) scout, select it and make a manual exploration order. Then I have to put it back to automatic. Is there an easier way to do it? I think in DW:U they at least went back to automatic mode. A global queue here would help a lot to to finetune exploration.

Regards

Global queues are great and everything for players who like to watch the computer play their game for them... but the complete removal of individual ship queues in favor of global queues is a giant middle finger to manual players. I can't believe the game didn't release with ship queues...

DWU was the same way. To check out something specific you would have to nab the closest scout and manually send them to the place you wanted explored then put them back on auto afterward.

Okay, thanks.

What do you think? Why do they don't have a global queue for it? Wouldn't it make sense?

You could use the Queue next mission context command in DW:U to queue exploration ships very efficiently.

See Icemania's AARs with the Quameno in DW:U to see how much more efficiently you can task an explorer.

Eh I guess there are levels of automation I never used then in dwu. I always let them do their thing and would have a few custom scouts with lots of engines and fuel to grab when I wanted to immediately explore something or use it to camp a system for intel. Even then if an autoexplore scout was already near the point of interest I would just grab it and send it on its way afterwards.

It was the opposite of automation. It was highly mandraulic and actually almost ruined the game for the need to be efficient. Queuing an explorer manually was orders of magnitude more efficient..... not exactly bummed that's it's gone, but would like some cleverer tools to avoid them getting stuck in asteroid fields for eternity.
