Galaxy map mod

Post by Nsf665 »

Hello, for anyone interested in different galaxy visual then default, I made some various type of galaxy themes if interested.

- special nebulas correspond to game definition, but are more saturated hence are more vivid on the galaxy map
- short description is in the readme file.

A screenshot of the original as first pic would be great.

These are great. Wish there was an option you could add all and select from within the game.

That looks very promising. But does it also give as an option for more saturated territorial-control colors? That is, so that we can see empire borders more clearly?

Yes, very nice addition to the game - thanks for sharing. :D

But you should add a hint that (future) game-patches that include the >GraphicsSettings_Galaxy.xml< will overwrite your mod. ;) - Have you already tested if savegames with the mod in use will work properly in these cases ?

No, this is just for the galaxy look itself, for some better saturation/visibility of empire influence we will probably have to wait a bit:)
Currently the darker/more contrast galaxy you have- the better you see the empire influence. It's about what suits you the best I think.
edit:
I like more visually pleasing galaxy over the function (seeing nebulas and empires to some degree), since I use overlays to see them anyway,
but I made various different themes which could suit some people with different tastes:)

Yes, some bigger patches will probably overwrite the file, but it will do changes to the most of the mods anyway.
In that case you can just apply it again:)
Mod has been working since I made it in the beta and I'm still playing the game with this setting.
So unless there will be some drastic changes in data structure(which I doubt:) ), it should work fine.
