A note on Crashes and Performance Issues

Post by Erik Rutins »

So far, the vast majority of crash and performance issues seem to be related to a few problems:

1. System with both Integrated and Dedicated GPU where DW2 detects the GPU incorrectly and ends up running on the Integrated GPU
2. System as above or with only one GPU, where nVidia and AMD periodically try to switch the load to the integrated GPU or "power save" the main GPU while the game is running, causing a crash (these are the "device removed") crashes
3. System with many controllers/USB devices attached which DW2 was not handling well.
4. System where the GPU or some other system requirement is below minimum spec and gets overloaded

The Pinned FAQs in the Tech Support sub-forum are the place to start as the steps there will resolve 1 and 2 in most cases. Unplugging extra controllers will resolve #3.

We just released the 1.0.1.6 update today and we're working to get 1, 2 and 3 fully resolved without any work-arounds as our #1 priority.

If you follow the Pinned FAQs in the tech support sub-forum and your problem is not resolved, please create a new thread in that sub-forum with a DxDIag for us and we'll troubleshoot with you to figure out what's going on.

I am logging off for a bit but will be back tomorrow (March 12th). Our team has reviewed all of today's ongoing issues and we are working towards another update for tomorrow or Sunday which should resolve the most critical ones. We'll keep iterating updates until we've worked our way through all the most critical issues.

That means we're initially focusing on all issues that are preventing the game from working well or at all on certain systems or leading to worse than expected performance for the hardware or crashes. After that common and important gameplay issues will begin to be addressed.

Thank you all for bearing with us as we work to get DW2 working for you all!
