Question on border we expansion

Post by PvtNumnutz »

Hello everyone, I have a question about territorial border expansion. I am playing the cyan colored empire in the picture. When growing my borders initially it seemed I just had to have a majority of mineable world's claimed for the color to flip to my nation and deny other empires access. Recently I have been expanding into the inner galaxy and scooping up some primo systems however they have yet to flip to my territory. (Region highlighted by blue box)

Does anyone know why my borders haven't expanded out here despite my heavy investment in infastructure into these systems? Do I need a colony to establish my control this far out from my capital system? Perhaps the small gap in the nebula to this region is creating too much of a choke point for it to truly be mine?

Any help appreciated :)

I've noticed it takes awhile to show up after you build up. Also - if others have stations in the same systems, it won't necessarily change to your color. Colonies have the greatest influence on borders.

Thank you for the reply! This area seems to be taking longer than usual, 9-10+ years. I have heavily invested in the region, building just about everywhere I could. Only one or two systems have a stray building from another empire. At this point trade is starting to pick up and I'm seeing noticable traffic from my empire, just missing my colors really haha. I'll try setting down a colony there and see if that changes anything.
