Small suggestion that would make a big difference graphically.

Post by Tanaka »

The little ships slowly going back and forth from stations look great and very realistic. The little ships shooting like bullets back and forth from mining ships and explorers look terrible and very unrealistic. It literally looks like they are just shooting at everything. When you speed up the game it makes it look even worse. Set them to the same speed as the little ships from the stations so they both look great. Why the ugly difference?

Yes, there could be less also.
Plus, they should travel to the middle of the object and vanish then, not before. And only one at a time, not more than one please.
And give rhem time to dig or catch uo cargo. So first a ship that fliesto the object, wait for dojng the work, then fly back to the ship or statiin. Wait for unloading.

That would slow down the pace and it would be a bit more special and increases the immersion.
Instead it looks like an overcrowded autobahn.. everywhere..
Thats to much anyway.

in a similar vein, i think planets and asteroids should rotate MUCH slower, to create the illusion of movement without it looking so silly they always just spin in place.

i am more in the team of wanting the little shuttles to actually transport items from bases to freighters and mining stations etc.
i.e. each shuttle can carry 100 recources... so when a freighter wants to load 550 steel they send out 6 little shuttles.. and wait for them to come back and dock again... isntead of this "freighter waits 3 seconds and it is loaded and turns around already again before the little cosmetic shuttle it launched even arrives on the target."

but they all just cosmetic as its all throughput per second based and mining per second.

still they a great addition to DW2... love seeing a bunch fo freighters all get loaded at a planet with them and such.

This is an interesting idea. But I think not realizable. The whole thing still has to be able to be computed. With something like this, the minimum CPU requirement will be a Threadripper.

I find the animation of the shuttles or drones pretty reasonable. I don't know if it's really worth the effort to make something special. I would rather be interested in some upgrades to the textures.

The game runs at about 1 sec = 1 day at 1x speed, so at least for some planets they should be rotating even faster lol.
