Survey Colour not changing on Galaxy screen and Movement Stutter

1- In my game the Planetary unsurveyed condition at a zoomed out level of detail ( a round globe with a questiion mark ) does not seem to change to a colour ( say green if totally surveyed ) but remains at thesame basic grey globe with the question mark. I have to zoom right in to see if the planet has been suveyed completly.

(PS - edited - this is probably me jumping the gun - the grey icon which was grey suddenly changed to red to reveal a pirate faction so I presume the colours are working as designed )

2) at medium zoom watching the ships move , there is a significant stuttering in the ships movement - it is not a smooth progession across the map, On my computer screen the ship icons will move a couple of inches across the screen , stop and then commence moving again , showing the stuttering movement.
