Adding MUSIC .mp3 files to DW2, same as DW1?

Hey all:
I haven't seen a topic on this subject after looking through the forum.

In DW1, you just added your personal .mp3 files to a MUSIC folder and the game made use of them randomly as background.
So, looking at the file structure under DW2's music area, there are sub-categories for situational types of music, which makes sense.

Can someone tell me just how added .mp3 files will behave based on location? I can make a guess, but I would rather ask a Matrix employee for a definitive answer.

Furthermore, do we need to add anything to the title to make them play correctly? -or is the "track title.mp3" format OK? Again, looking at the game music, the files have a lot of added descriptors, etc. in the filename. Does this stuff matter when adding your own?

I think this may be possible, but I'm not 100% sure. In data\music there are various subdirectories containing the tracks for the various views and situations. The official game music is already in mp3 format.

I don't know what happens if you add tracks.

Works just fine. I added all my DW1 music to DW2. If you delete all of the folders and just put in music it will play randomly. Really great.

Thanks Tanaka, good to know they will work. I still wonder if you put them in a particular "music theme" folder, will they still work under those conditions?

Yes you can do that too!

Yes, you can add any music there and it automatically picks it up..
