Warplan is a World War 2 simulation engine. It is a balance of realism and playability incorporating the best from 50 years of World War 2 board wargaming.
I really like this game and imho it has quite cool concepts and does many things right . But I'm missing one thing VERY MUCH. That is the option to watch your opponents turn in a PBEM match. I talk about kind of a replay like the one Strategic Command implements. To me this is a big part of the fun in a PBEM game. Is there any chance to implement something similar?
I agree. This game is really great !
But It's a pity that a player can't examine what his opponent did last turn. And why your beautiful units are now destroyed or crushed !
« Just because you lost doesn't mean you have to give up. As long as you can bite... »
Of cause you can. And that's really fine btw.
But to have a kind of a newsreel before your turn starts - i.e. the way it is implemented in SC - would add a lot to the flavor. It gives a thrill and a better feeling for what your opponent is doing. The combat log is quite a bit prosaic.
I actually much prefer WarPlan's combat summary as its very hard to follow the video playback that SC has. I can click through each one and actually see what happened not just see a blur of attacks.
Redrum68, I completely agree and I don't suggest to change the system. All I say is that I would love to see an option - as an addon for those players like me - to get a replay of the opponents last turn actions (and NOT to replace what is implemented now). Imho this feature is one of the best in the SC series or the Fields of Glory games and would add flavor to Warplan, too.
Due to the detail of WP I stuck with the WitE system. Especially since WP2 will be a counter with divisions. Doing a replay would be incredibly difficult to code with how WP was created. SC has 1 unit per hex, 1 attack per hex, no splitting or merging units, no stacks of ships.
