No Axis Planes Displayed in Combat

Post by dr125 »

Using the 1.20.21 patch, I attacked as the Soviets at 208,127 near Smolensk. I lost a few hundred planes in A2A, but no German planes were sighted. I am assuming a display bug unless something worse. Save is attached. Please let me know if anything else is needed.

I think the bug here is that the German AS fighters are not being listed as being in the battle. I confirmed that there is a AS AD covering the area with German fighters not far away. It appears they managed to intercept the ground support. I'm pretty sure this is already on our bug list that the AS a/c are not being listed in the battle reports. If you can attach the save before the combat (or the start of turn save), I can take a look and see what kind of damage was done to the German air units. If I can duplicate the situation I can add it to our existing bug and it might make it easier to fix when Pavel has a chance to work on this. Thanks.

Here is the start of turn autosave. I didn't save it, but I ran the battle again with GS on and saw a similar result. A few hundred SU planes shot down in A2A with 1 109 displayed with a few kills, the others being accounted for.

That save should help us when we're working on improving this kind of phantom intercept. Based on what I'm seeing, there are more German losses happening among the AS groups than being reported, and are likely op losses. These losses may get tacked on later or they may not be getting recorded, so that's another issue we'll need to look into as well. Thanks for the report and all the saves.
