Please remember my decision

Post by Darkmater »

For suggestions from advisors,,, please please please have them remember my last decision. It is crazy that my advisors ask me the same thing I declined repeatedly. Its like every 1 min cycle they want me to do the same thing I just said no too.

I don't want to turn suggestions off because suggestions are helpful, but them asking the same thing I declined each game day or so practically kills me. Or have a slider for advisors not to ask again post a decline for 1 year, 5 years, 10 years.

DWU was notorious for info window popups to the point I turned nearly all of them off even if it hurt my ability to know what was going on. So far the glut of messages is fairly manageable but yes I feel your pain over telling the AI that no I don't want to build those four scouts only to ask me again and again.

A simple fix like suggested above would be 'Yes' 'No' 'Ask me again later'.

That's actually about what I'd like lol. Maybe add 1 year and 10 years in there.

Agreed! Similarly e.g. an option to auto-decline pirate tribute requests would be great. They can get really spammy on big maps.

If you can afford it pay them off because it will eventually lead to them joining your empire after enough good rep is built up. Plus the offers of maps and colony and empire locations can be quite useful when your scouts are still range and speed limited to only a corner of the map. They changed pirate interactions a fair bit now and they act more like the current minor races than the annoyances they were in DWU. There is a ton of neat stuff that got changed around but its going to take a while to find it all.

That's true, although there are downsides besides just the money. Particularly if you do this a lot, you end up with massive "We are concerned at your friendship with our enemies" diplomatic relations maluses with everyone they've been raiding. Also it seems like sometimes they will betray you? My last game I befriended the first pirate faction I encountered, and then much later on realised they'd violated our Non Aggression Pact and started raiding my shipping again.

Do you have to give them a large bribe to get them to join your empire?

Only ghost fleet on a pre warp start asks for money to join you. All the normal pirates ask the base fee of 125 credits a month protection unless you have shot at them first then it goes up or had refused an earlier protection offer. After a long time of good relations they will eventually ask to join your empire for free giving you all their ships and bases.

Well pirates do be pirates after all and some will lie and backstab you. If they stick a dagger in your back then shove a few battle fleets up their bases.

First of all, I am glad that those tips stay when you pause and hover over them.
I hated it in DW1 when they vanished after a short time - even when pausing the game, they vanished.
Ok, there was the message log. but the nice pictures I anted to enjoy - sometimes..

now in DW2, those pictures stay some time, even if you dismiss with a rightclick the little infobar and then you have to click the X.
When the next pop up comes and you go over it, it changes to the window and then, you have to move the mouse to the right border to close it or click the x or make a decision to the bottom.
so you are always pushing your mouse in circles, top, bottom, top left or right, go to the bottom and so on.

TL,DR:
What you want is not implemented, but if you tend to NOT accept the ship construction, you set it in policy settings to execute.
If you tend to say YES, say suggest and execute.
You can see how the advisor will decide by the green checkmark or the red cross.
red cross when you say suggest,
green checker when suggest and execute.

This way you only have to click into the infowindow if you want to do it different than suggested.
