Why won't this surrounded unit die?

Post by BananaConvention »

I've had this enemy unit surrounded at Mauban for 3 days. I know this because the game tells me every end of round. I've done a combination of shock and deliberate attacks each day. Still, after 4 days of attacks, the unit won't die. Check out this combat summary. Help me understand how this unit is persisting!!!

Sometimes it takes a good number of attacks to eliminate a unit especially if they are in jungle or rough terrain.

It is just a part of the game, there are no absolutes when it comes to combat.

Eventually it will die. Remember that each turn is only 1 day.

They have no valid retreat path, and made their morale roll after fighting...so they stay. HQs are famous for hanging around like this.

I've had a group of civilians holding out in a remote part of Mindanao for over two weeks (this is LST's bottleneck mod). My opponent has just landed his third unit to force them out and they're still there. It must be driving him crazy, but he's been sporting enough not to say anything rude.

BC, you didn't post any information on the attacking units. There is a good chance you have attacked too many times in a row and left them with very high fatigue. That in turn will cause low morale. You might also want to check experience and unit commanders if those are new units.
