What is the Turn timescale for WP?? It's not in any of the basic info for the game

WarPlan Pacific is an operational level wargame which covers all the nations at war in the Pacific theatre from December 1941 to 1945 on a massive game scale.

What is the Turn timescale for WP?? It's not in any of the basic info for the game

Post by Pascal_slith »

Hi everyone,

Neither on Steam nor in the Slitherine page for Warplan Pacific is there any information as to the turn timescale. Is it a week? This was basic information that should have been included in the presentation page of the game, whether in the Slitherine page or on Steam. I shouldn't have to go hunting for this very basic, important info.
So much WitP and so little time to play.... :-(

As an additional question, are turn executions sequential? It looks like that in the intro video. It's not simultaneous like WitP, correct?

IGOUGO. Two week turns (with each player playing a turn during two weeks). Most action happens on the active player turn. Occasionally starving will remove counters from play during active player’s logistics phase at the beginning of turn.

Thank you very much for the information. Something that should be part of the basic info on the website page for the game and on Steam.

In age of computer wargames, I'm not much of a fan of IGOUGO. There's enough computing power to make the thing simultaneous as in WitP. On top of that, I find two weeks to be a little long. Already 1 week as in GG's War in the East and War in the West was stretching it some.

It's all relative. WP and WPP are on a strategic scale that is very well-chosen. A few weeks to generate initiative works out very very well here imho. This is the grand old boardgame style of representation and it makes it very playable indeed, deceptively so until you begin to grasp the complexities.
