Losses And OB Turn 43

losses both on the ground and in the air were lower this as the weather conditions hampered movement.

However the Russian OB is reducing in size which is promising.

AG North Turn 44

The snow has made way for mud and is hampering operations but were able to encircle 1 soviet unit.

Time to rest troops and bring up more reinforcements.

AG Centre Turn 44

On the central front the weather change will give both sides some weeks of respite from the fighting.

I will keep looking for openings the Russians may leave open to exploit but at this stage looks like there will be little activity on the front lines.

AG South Turn 44

Here in the south The Russians have pulled a lot troops back out of contact, this also benefits me as it gives my troops a chance of unhindered rest.

Been following this AAR, could you show us how you set up your Logistics network and spread your rail repair units? Or better yet, upload the latest save?

I see you're connecting the crimea to the rail network, is that worth it?

Hi

Bear in mind there are players here that there supply setup to a T, I have tried to follow a couple of players examples.

The Crimea rail network is important specially in the winter months but its a jugging act and there is just not enough FBD's.

If you have got as far say as Stalino and your rail depots are almost up your front line then definitely get the rail line running down there even if you have not captured Sevastopol.

Having all the ports linked specially Kerch to me is important if you have already crossed the Strait, that's my view anyway, in the winter if you have committed 11th Armee down there with no rail its tough for the Armee.

As for where I put my repair units its mostly with the Pz Armee's learnt that from wiser heads than I, again once the rail deports for Pz Armee fairly solid I will start moving the repair units to where there needed and just attach them to whichever Armee sector is in need then swing back to the Pz Armee.

Of course sometimes that does not always work and I end up with the Northern repair unit down in the Centre for quite some times.

For this particular game since my objective is Southern Russia come 42 I will have 2 repair units in the South, FBD 5 arrives and will be attached to 17th Armee as it and 1st Pz will be heading to Grozny, I will be heading to Stalingrad but its not a main objective, the Oilfields are.

2nd Pz's FBD will divert here and there for rail repair in the Stalingrad direction.

I started to attach construction and RAD construction units Korps HQ's and while there were a few times there actually deployed and repaired the rail surrounding the attached Korps, a lot of times they did not deploy and simply went back to Army Group HQ.

Still need to figure out to get maximum usage from them as i have vast areas in the rear with no rail connection.

Currently
FBD 4 16th Armee

FBD 2 3rd Pz Armee

FBD 3 2nd Pz Armee

FBD 1 11th Armee

AG North Turn 45

The Russians in the North continue to pull back, this is fine by me both fatigue and attrition is reduced.

It also gives more free space to reorganise my Troops.

Here seems to be a different story, there front line is double and in some places triple strength.

The first of the Guards arrive they will be priority targets along with Armoured Corps in the coming months.

The salient around Kharkov has shortened as the enemy pulls back.

Again here the front line on the Russian side is in some places two deep.

3 Inf Armee's not completely supplied with 6th Armee having the biggest deficit.

The Axis Allied Armies are better supplied at this stage.

Activity is quiet so casualties minor however lost more tanks this week than the Russians.

In the Air still losing more than I would wish for.

This week Russian OB broke the 4 million mark again, where is the summer weather I need to reduce there Army in size.

Just a little note
you use "Russians" very often while it would be more correct to use "Soviets"

There were many countries in USSR. And USSR is not equal to Russia alone.

AG North Turn 46

Quiet again, the rain is bucketing down and turning the countryside into a quagmire.

While there huge gaps in the line everywhere I am choosing to sit tight and wait, why because my vehicle situation is dire and if move further I will lose even more supplying my troops.

I am going to lose heaps as it is but I will not make it any worse.

AG Centre Turn 46

Same situation here, it does have its advantages as I can really make in roads into rail repair even though its not good for there movement either.

With the front line static I don't have to worry about my troops being to far ahead of rail depots.

It also gives me time to reform divisions that were broken down.

AG South Turn 46

4th Pz Armee has arrived but to late for the party as the salient is all but gone, the situation in The Ukraine is under control, I have held on.

Historically while there was land retaken in the South by The Soviets in the 1941 / 42 winter counteroffensive, it was in the Centre and North that got hit hardest while with game I feel the South takes the brunt of it.

Now it could be just me and I am not experienced enough yet, but I find if I can reach the Forrest regions in front of Moscow I can do quite well, but again I am talking about playing the AI,against another player it would probably be a different story.

Still doing well, just when I am about to give my quartermaster and the rear echelon troops a pat on the back I notice that the Luftwaffe is once again in the red.

Goring has to go.
