Capturing Ships?

Post by ImperiousLeader »

I have the boarding tech. I designed a Heavy Frigate with 2 Assault Pods, Ion Cannons to damage internals, Torpedoes to drop the shields. I have everything set to manual.

I attack until the enemy ship is disabled, but my fleet keeps destroying the enemy ships and even a Pirate Base. They are not boarding. I really wanted that base. What am I doing wrong?

Two maybe stupid questions :

Did you order your ships to capture or attack ?

In your Policy settings, how did you configure the capture conditions ?

If you got assault pods and ion cannons, just giving the "Capture" order should mean they deal with the details of dropping shields then launching pods.

Not stupid questions at all. The option to capture never came up.

Ah, there's the problem. I didn't change anything. That's what I'm doing wrong. Yes I am a newbe at this game, and RTS as well.
Thank you so much. I guess I have a little save scumming to do.

The capture option should come up when you right click on a target.

CTRL+Rightclick.
Rightclick is straight attack.

CTRL + Right Click, got it thanks! The only way I was getting it to work, was to use each individual ship in the fleet to target. If I tried to target with a fleet, only the attack option came up. CTRL + Right Click should fix that.
