Studying the pacific theater I always wondered why Japan was so determined to attack the U.S. and occupy the Philippines, playing wpp gives you a real good Idea just how strategically important the Philippines were in the pacific theater! Once Japan loses them or if they never occupy them in the first place (rare but happens) they are effectively cut in half and the allies have so many close bases to Japan that they are doomed to fail quickly. Anybody have any special Philippine strategies? In my next game I intend to as Japan prioritize turning the Philippines in to a fortress, lots of lba and maybe try coastal fortifications.

I am not yet there clearly but I would put few planes in naval interdiction also. The problem is linked to oil. Plenty of planes without oil is not a good thing.
