DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
it's like in 2 out of 3 games in starting system you have abandoned starship. and 1of3 - abandoned ship.
if it's a bug, how come noone ever encountered it? even some "pro" from this thread?
the thing is you cannot do anything to it. only repair. salvage for research would be nice alternative.

DId you see my post on the previous page where I mentionned what I've seen in your save, and explain what's happening for the "Mined Here" thing? (You might have missed it, because we've posted at the same time it seems, and it's on the previous page.)DrSun wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:58 pm it's like in 2 out of 3 games in starting system you have abandoned starship. and 1of3 - abandoned ship.

omg how?100thMonkey wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:58 pm [As for the 0 resources for steel and webnar, when I opened your saved, paused, there were already some in the space port. Not much, but not 0. maybe my game is corrupted, but i recently forced steam to recheck all files (read this from this topic) - and opened this save after that. still 0 and not adding.
try to reopen once more.
it cant be just in last seconds, coz spaceport was rebuild in like 2763, and on save file its 2770 still no steel or membar.

Spaceports do not actually mine.100thMonkey wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:16 pmDId you see my post on the previous page where I mentionned what I've seen in your save, and explain what's happening for the "Mined Here" thing? They lock out mining stations.
Their Stockpile claims they can mine the stuff there.
But nothing is ever added to the ports stockpiles.
Maybe a resource extractor should just become default for Spaceports? Seems like it might be usefull for fringe cases like this.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
waited couple years.
still zero steel and mebnar
still zero steel and mebnar
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
actually i tried before repair spaceport without any mining station nearby. same issuezgrssd wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:39 pmSpaceports do not actually mine.100thMonkey wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:16 pmDId you see my post on the previous page where I mentionned what I've seen in your save, and explain what's happening for the "Mined Here" thing? and in my savefile mining station nearby is for crystals, not steel or mebnar.
so this acquired spaceport can lock nothing

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
I've reopened your save. And right after it finished opening, yes, if I immediately click on the space port, what I see is what you describe (0 steel / 0 webnar). But, what I had done the first time I opened it (and repeated just now with the same result), is going into the construction section of the control center, and then click on the spaceport, and from there look at it's resources. All without unpausing the game. And at that point, there is some steel and webnar in the space port. I'm sure if you reopen the same save you've posted here and repeat the steps I've just described, you'll see the same thing.DrSun wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 1:29 pmomg how?100thMonkey wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:58 pm [As for the 0 resources for steel and webnar, when I opened your saved, paused, there were already some in the space port. If you can reproduce that, I do not think there are any reason to conclude that your game is corrupted.
But the fact that the resources number change without unpausing the game might be a bug.

I'm so sorry. I just realized I was looking at the wrong culumn in the spaceport's "Resources & Stock Levels" (I was looking under "Sources"). I'm going to let your game run a while, to see if the spaceport's steel and webnar stockpiles increase or not. And I'll post a follow-up.

@DrSun
Confirmed: the resources marked as "Mined Here" on the T1745 spaceport do not increase. Same thing that ZZGRSSD mentionned in this thread: https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... 6&t=381523.
So your game is not corrupted. It's a bug. You may want to add your save to that thread. It might help Erik and Eliott to solve the problem.

Got some quick questions:
1) What is "HighTech" Research? I could increase it by 20% but I cannot find anything belonging to it.
2) More than one concurrent research: I understand that this can make retrofitting more efficient. Is there something else to make use out of it?
3) All my tourists go to my homeworld (tourism flow). I built a lot of other resort bases. My question: when and where should you build resort bases?
Thank you guys!
2. It slows you down. Avoid it. You only need it if you have a crash programm but need something else to finish too.
3. It is possible the tourist target selection or display have a bug.
Thank you both. 1. and 2. are answeredRadamanthe wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 12:07 am This!
It made me crazy… all research components belong to a category which is not indicated anywhere in game.
There is a table in the manual, take a look in page 62 and 63. You'll see that the "High Tech" category is for these components:
Research
Command Center
Commerce Center
Medical Bay
Recreation Center

3 (tourists): I checked my passenger ships and I did not see any that do not bring tourists to my homeworld or the resort base at my homeworld. So I do not know if I should build additional resort bases.
Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
I currently have the game propose resort bases.Commander4X wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 7:08 pmzgrssd wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 12:07 pm1. I think that is the old name. Look in the "Research" part of the tree for what they are tagged as.Commander4X wrote: Sun Mar 20, 2022 11:25 am Hello

Automation Policies -> Construction -> Base Construction
I do not think the whole Tourism part is working properly right now. I guess way too much focus on total Scenery, not enough on distance.

How do you load resources manually?
I have a new colony, and want send resources to it. How do I manually load the ships (fuel tanker) with resources? Also (might as well get this out of the way now), how do unload those resources if it's not the reverse of loading?
Re: How do you load resources manually?
You can't. The private sector handles that. Eventually they will get supplies to your new colony. Build a spaceport as soon as you are able.HateVagueManuals wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 10:09 am I have a new colony, and want send resources to it. Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
I will start with quoting the game manual:
"They(Independent races) can provide you with missing resources through trade, but also if you integrate them in your empire through peaceful or military means, in sufficient numbers they can grant your empire their unique bonuses and colonization modifiers."
Can anyone share an insight regarding the definition of "sufficient numbers"
Many thanks.

A lot of things can take time. Time to accumulate materials is the big one and there is little that you can do about it. Other than fine the materials that you are short on more locally....GP

Re: DW2 FAQ/QnA megathread - Ask your question here!
The DW1 Manual had some values on that. I would asume something similar applies in DW2.ioulaum wrote: Tue Mar 22, 2022 11:50 am I will start with quoting the game manual:

You can also hover over your revenue number to see any upcoming spendings, like "Waiting for 150k credits to construct Galactic Arsenal xyz""fenmoorz wrote: Mon Mar 21, 2022 2:02 am Funding issue Update:
Ok 40k in state ship and base spending...
No new Mining bases.
No new Resort Bases.
No new construction ships.
No increase in Military Strength (indicating military ships)
No new exploration ships.
No troops are at least SUPPOSE to be able to be built... Nothing looks cued up.
What am I missing?
EDIT:
The number of resort bases is fluctuating between 7 and 13. Even while paused. I built about 7 so those are probably the good ones, but the Resort bases page (no new ones page) is flashing different bases constantly. I am going to try and see if I can figure out which bases are real and which are ghosts. It might have something to do with this...

As far as I know, there isn't a specific place to report those. You should probably post in the support thread (https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/view ... hp?f=11896). It's the first on top of the forum.

Tech Support is where we do the reporting. I think I reported that particular one, but it is hard to say with that small image.
