WITE2 updates in WITW?

Gary Grigsby’s War in the West 1943-45 is the most ambitious and detailed computer wargame on the Western Front of World War II ever made. Starting with the Summer 1943 invasions of Sicily and Italy and proceeding through the invasions of France and the drive into Germany, War in the West brings you all the Allied campaigns in Western Europe and the capability to re-fight the Western Front according to your plan.

WITE2 updates in WITW?

Post by RedBunny »

WITE2 introduced a number of features not in WITW - any word on if these changes will be incorporated into WITW?

I didn't see anything in this forum answering my question.

not feasible.

For about 2 years of testing WiTE2 the code base was kept in line and WiTW then patched to reflect this.

At that stage some really fundamental bits were changed (& carried on being changed), so couldn't just be added to WiTW without substantial testing. The entire combat model was reworked which could be seriously unbalancing in the context of WiTW and plenty else.

There maybe more purely WiTW patches - though I doubt it as the game seems stable and balanced, but it won't be to import the new concepts from WiTE2.

Of course a WiTW2 would be a different thing, but then that would be designed and tested to ensure all the changes actually work
