Be nice to be able to fund colony growth and research from treasury

You don't run a tax surplus for quite some time, or at least I don't, which means no extra funding for colony growth or research for a while.

However I do tend to get plenty o'cash from bonus income to the treasury, and it would be nice to be able to direct some of that into colony growth or research funding.

i can understand the game machanics idea (from economic perspective) to fund colony growth and research "only" with fresh money ....
But then the other "trivial" things like maintaince/upkeep should first substracted from the treasury ...
As it make few sense to have the treasure "only" for build new things exclusively .....

Erik just explained that growth over 50% max pop is bad.
so set colony growth to zero and tax the shit out of those fu.. farmers .

In combination this will also motivate your people to settle those colonies.

have read this - and dont agree ....
that 50% population from "Max" should be the most efficient number is more than questionable ....
(would asume more 75~80% - and then it musst be "better"/more understable/more logical ways to handle this ...)
And this dont help with the un-immersive und hard to explain gameplay machanic that is in game with the treasury and how it only can use .... dont reflect real world economyc behavor .....

For me this is one of the best minor changes from DW:U and I hope they will keep it more or less the way as it is.
In DW:U growth was mostly afected by hapiness (much more then in DW2) and this led to same pattern every time: no tax, spam minining stations for cash and wait untill max pop before others get event 50%, destroy galaxy:)

Now with funding research and growth you need to make some decision like grow slower and gaing research and so on.

We're planning to do a lot more both with bonus funding and with excess funds in the future, so there will come a time ...
