Ways to order the repair of a mining station?

Post by 100thMonkey »

One of my mining station is damaged after being raided by a pirate faction. Is it possible to order its repair manually?

It doesn't seem possible from the selection panel. Or by right-clicking on the station itself (right-click doesn't do anything in this case).

And if I select a construction ship, and then right-click on the station, I get the following options:

- Build the station
- Refuel at the station
- Move to the station
- Stop

Would "Build the station" repair it? Or is there no way to order a station repair manually?

In my experience Build Station does the job.

Repairing falls under "Build". So pick that option.

In DWU there used to be a tick box under the selected ship or base that popped up when it got damaged to manually queue up repairs but that isn't here this time. I'm assuming that since automatic self repairs are basically built into the game now they didn't feel the need.

Aside from the automatic self repair, all stations seem automatically tagged as "need a constructor to fix that" upon taking serious damage.

I have seen the Automated ships go for damage stations and disabeled ships 1-2 times, each time without my orders.

What about when parts / components are destroyed, not just damaged (this was the case with the station mentionned in the OP)? Unless self repair can rebuild destroyed parts / components, its presence in the game doesn't justify, in my eye at least, taking out functions that were in DW:U and improved the UX / QOL of players.

Yes. All good. But it would be great to have the possibility to manually order a repair for an important station, to accelerate its repair. For instance, if it's the only source of something that you need to finish building a fleet that you want to use to attack a neighbor... you'd want that to be repaired quickly, not after all the already queued build missions have been completed.

That was possible in DW:U. Why not in DW2?

You opening Post contains that it is possible to manually order the repair.
We just told what the option to "Build" means repair in that context.

Yes, that's true. And it's good that it's doable.

But to do it, I have first to locate and select a construction, interrupt its present mission, and then order it to repair the ship or station. While in DW:U, I could simply right-click on what needed to be repair, that's it, without interupting any build mission. The repair order was just queued. Simpler. Faster. Better. And it was present in DW:U. Why not put it also in DW2?

Not that it's the end of the world, but why a lesser option now in DW2?

Or you just cancel any nearby Construction Ships mission (does not turn off automation) and let them pick up the repair/build on their own. It honestly sounds a lot easier to me now.

I found some derelict ships guarded by a space station, now my construction ships keep suiciding trying to repair those ships.

I am not strong enough to destroy the station, I could turn of automation, but then I have to order every build by hand ..

0. Pause the game.
1. Find the ship currently on the mission, if any
2. Cancel the mission
3. Untag the Ship to repair under Exploration -> Abandoned Ships
4. Done

If you do not force them to try to salvage stuff, they will not do it.
