Just curious about the Panthers

Post by falkyns »

I am sure this has been asked and answered but I have not seen it: Why does the Panther D upgrade to the Panther G rather than to the 'A' which would then upgrade to the 'G'

The games has the right dates and all for D to A to G it just does not follow that upgrade path.

So units with even older tanks get upgraded to Panther A
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

Historically the sequence was ausfD, then ausfA, then ausfG.

Read Jentz book and it does not say why the ausfD was before the A.

I`ve even asked the curators at Bovington Tank Museum and they dont know either.

The D`s mainly fought at Kursk and then withdrawn and faults (partially) rectified

The Germans should have put the Panther II in production in `43.
