Custom background moddable?

I was wondering how to mod the DWU background image, i.e., the main backdrop to the game menu selections… I know the RetreatUE+Bacon+DasChromeBlue mod had such a custom main background, and I was wondering, for example, how to use the main background image from the original 2010 Distant Worlds for DW Universe.

The closest I’ve been able to do that is to use as custom background image the MainBackground image that’s been around since the first iteration of DW. But it’s only visible at lower resolutions and windowed mode, oddly enough, but not for the 1536x960 Parallels resolution I’m playing DW Universe in.

Are you referring to the galaxy backdrops in the folder images\environment\galaxybackdrops which are 1280x1218 in size?

Thanks, no, not the galaxy backdrops. I was referring to the main background image with the general menu options. I have since discovered that the excellent Bacon Mod allows such a customisation: customBackgroundImage, requiring the Bacon Mod’s .exe.
