Truck Movement

Post by warnevada »

Something odd in the 82nd Airborne scenario. The 82nd Airborne division has four regiments, three para regiments and a glider regiment. When it comes in the game it comes with three truck columns, one for each of the para regiments. The first oddity is that there should be a truck column for the glider regiment as well.

So I loaded the paras onto the trucks and took them halfway to their objectives. I then unloaded one regiment and marched it the rest of the way. I took that truck column back to the glider regiment and discovered that the glider battalions are larger than the para battalions and one truck column couldn't carry the entire regiment. So I unloaded another para regiment and sent the truck column back to the glider regiment. Got the regiment loaded, two battalions on one column and the third on the other.

It took several turns for the glider regiment to catch up to the paras. Now here is the really odd thing. The Vigor and Readiness of the two glider battalions on the one truck column were 23 and 23; the battalion on the other truck column had 25 and 25 (I guess they were in better shape because they had more room). BUT, the paras who walked part way had values in the 70's. Now this is really odd that sitting on trucks instead of marching and where you can catch a snooze would tire you out more.

Right, there is no reason to limit the trucks, added one trucks column for both 82nd and 101st next update !

I have noticed this too with my Mod scenario. The glider regiments appear to be slightly bigger than the Para regiments. I had to add trucks to carry them all. The heavy weapons battalion each with 19 jeeps should move as wheeled, liked the AAA units.

This should not be the case since v1.00.06. Just retested this.
