Strategic Bombing - Advancements

Post by canuckgamer »

The Advancement Table for Strategic Bombing indicates that when you advance from 19421 to 1942 the strategic bombing factor goes up 1. However, my UK strategic bombers are at the 1941 level while my USA ones are at the 1942 level and both of them have a strategic bombing factor of 9.

Please clarify, or is this a bug?

No, you don't understand the table. The table gives for a given year the modification compared to the based level of 1939. As such, in 1940, 1941 and 1942, the strategic bombing factor will add 1 to 8 (based factor of 1939).

For 1940, 1941 and 1942, the strategic bombing factor is 9. For 1943, it goes up to 8+2=10.

This is working perfectly fine.

Thanks for the clarification. I did in fact look at the manual and there really wasn't any explanation of how it worked.

I'll put a describer next patch in there somewhere.

I can't put absolute values because each country is different and a tech applies to several units at times.

It will be under the "?" very likely.

Thanks Al.

Most I suspect will figure it out.

You tried to make is easy...do not "add" values for each year just look at the year and that is how many should be added.

It is the AA of the unit (its the "shoot-back" when the air unit is on the ground). Base defense if you will.

I must say i do not know if "defense" is used also on the ground or not. Alvaro would need to confirm. My understanding from an earlier explanation he gave was that the anti-air is used to fire from the ground at enemy air doing an airfield strike. Could it also be the "defense " value in such a situation?

What Al stated somewhere...

Each AA has a 50% chance to hit an air unit.

What I do not know is IF the air unit's defense gives it a "save roll"...
