Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the water I get bombed from here to hell and back. This time on the Soviet side. Anyway, here is a snapshot of rail interdiction for the Lvov area. Looks great on paper! But the desired effect is lack luster. The small raids really make this nice, but in my opinion, and this is just my opinion, I am NOT saying this game is broken! (Had to put that in there just in case for those that read into things) I believe that the rail interdiction needs to be toned up just a tad bit, not much but a bit, to make it worthwhile to use. But hell what do I know? Nothing.

BUT! I DO KNOW I was able to rail out everything in the pocket that could rail out and that was A LOT through this rail interdiction!!!! ...
...
The secondary gain of railway interdiction is that also hits ground movement in those hexes.
...
In this AAR it looks like ground interdiction is not doing much if anything.

Yes, I concur. I know in all my German games all the interdiction really did not play a part in any of my planning. The AAR you linked is a fine AAR and really wish that AAR would start back up!!!

jubjub wrote: Thu Mar 31, 2022 3:33 pm I would love to see interdiction buffed. Ideally you could lock Soviet divisions in place or severely limit their retreating ability by interdicting movement. With the amount of effort and supply it takes to get interdiction going, you'd think it would be more like 2-3 MP extra per level for infantry and 5+ for motorized units - in addition to causing much larger losses than currently for walking through. It's also too hard to interdict in wooded areas - even light woods requires a stupendous amount of bombers to get just 1 interdiction point.
At a minimum at least another look. Is there any historical data at all on interdiction effects on the East front by either side? I recall reading some at Kursk but may be mistaken & some later in the war. But my knowledge base on that is very very limited. Any WW2 East front Scholars know?

Turn 1

Airfield Bombing

North Intercepts. So 66 missions(just counting the north) of 2 bombers each time were intercepted 24 times (2 from previous photo close to base to get 24) with 2 interceptors each time. Soviet lost zero interceptors and the Soviets shot down 10 bombers. I don't know about you but that was the first turn and the intercept rate looks pretty good to me. But that is just me observing it in game. I am happy with the rate.

Turn 1

Airfield Bombing

So all in all K62 did a GREAT job in dealing with the Soviet Air Force with over 6,096 destroyed on ground and Air. The small plane raids are nice but I think they can be dealt with but will keep an eye on it in later turns. I did set up for National Air defense across the whole country instead of sending my Air force to reserve or bombing.

Hat off to K62 for 6k+, awesome job :D

I see astronomical numbers like this in other AARs. It's wrong.

Anyone know what happened to HLYA? Last post on the entire forum was a quick note that he was going to do some (meatspace) chores, but would be back later. That was on 3-31. Note the avatar is gone.

Unfortunately he gave up on WitE2 last month. I've tried hard to persuade him to stay but no luck.

Sad to hear that.

Maybe in better / future times he may return - he gave me a bucket of tips and his detailed AAR were helpful to learn how to do things (then how I put them in practice is another matter!)
