Extremely rare luxury resources question

Post by Sild »

I'm at a point now where i have a source of both Zentabia Fluid and Korabian Spice. Mining stations. For years now. My question is how or rather why isn't every sizeble colony scrambling to get a hold of that very valuable stuff. My stations have full stocks round the clock, my largest colonies either have neither or have a little of one of them and usually not for long.

Looking at the flow of resources, Zentabia fluid is only flowing towards the capital, while Korabbian Spice isn't flowing anywhere (or maybe towards the colony in the same system, can't tell). Makes no sence to me. The stock is there, the potential benefits are huge yet there's no demand?? So why go to war for them like the in-game enciclopedia suggests? I must be missing something here.

Colonies can only set a target. Private Freighters are the ones that have to move the stuff.

That does not sound like a quesiton, but like a Bug report.
First make sure you verify the gamefiles. DW2 files break. A LOT.

If it persists: Bug reports belong into Tech Support. Please make sure you provide a savegame so the devs have the exact scenario

You should check if your colonies are indeed asking for these ressources. You might have to take over automations for it.

But that might not help as well, because the freighters arn't prioritizing it at all : I've been mining Zentabia fluid for years in my current game, and tonight I checked : not present in my capital, even though I set up a 2k minimum.

I suspect the freighters are broken carrying Caslon around, as the default automation sets a Caslon requirement in every station, every mining station but also even the resort bases and the sort, I'm pretty sure. And i can't be arsed setting 0 Caslon requirement in every station of my empire just to unbreak the game and help the freighters carry useful stuff around.

So while we wait for a fix, we either stop playing or endure.

Is there an overview of how many Freighters are active and actually transporting stuff,
I never got very far into a game, but I got the feeling that retrofitting, has become quite the bottleneck due to the drastically reduced number of available Space Yards.

It somehow has been acknowledged on the Steam forum that the civilian sectors had issues redistributing resources. I'm experiencing this myself, usually civilians do fine pulling resources from a mining station toward the nearest spaceport, but struggle to distribute it from this point toward others colonies. That's after you have removed the usual culprits: lack of caslon or not enough idle civilians freighters, obviously.

So wait for a patch, it's in the top 10 items to be fixed.

Yes.
The top bar entry "Civilian" has Freighters and Passenger Ships listed, next to Resort Base management.

I totally agree on the space yards thing. I keep advising them to maintain at least 2 yards/space port and maybe add extra yards to planets every 1 Billion people.

But there also seem to be some serious issues with the "time till you start work" prediction as well.
And with the Private Economy spending like their entire funds in 1 gametick, after months and years of just storing money.

Yeah, I thought myself, the planet could have at least a second spaceyard.

Let's make it a Facility if you must, I have no problem with this,
Cap the size of Ships that can be produced planetside.

Another question. How many docking bays has a planet ?

I think a planet has 0 docking bays. They always use remote transfer of goods.

Can you please elaborate on this? It does not make any sense. The process to verify files usually consists of calculating the checksum of read-only files and comparing with their checksum on release. There is no reason a game would break its static files more than other games. Which files are you talking about?

I am fully aware that game files breaking on crashes is not normal behavior.
Which is why I mention that it is a problem in DW2.

I am not sure which files.
I am not sure how.
But it happens.
A lot less to me as of 1.0.2.6, but they may be older damage.

Yeah I've watched freighters around planets a bit, and it seems they just offload very fast around planets, like in a half second, and then go away.

I had assumed they would unload cargo at spaceports, and that's why I fitted all my spaceports in my current game with the maximum amount of docking bays, but maybe it's useless ? What does docking bays do in spaceports ?

As far as I can tell, Docking Bays slow down transfer.

Spaceports should be equipped with Construction Yards first and foremost. Leftover space to some fighter bays, to give them the ability to fight on extreme ranges.
