You destroyed a whole lot of vehicles (640). What types of tanks do your armoured units have? And the 6th Mixed A/T Mtr Regiment?

I don't think it was the tanks. All of my Indian Divisions have 43 infantry with 75 anti-hard ratings, and most have lots of Bren Section(PIAT)s and 6lb AT guns.

The tank units had a mixture of Grants, Lees and Stuart 1 Light Tanks.

The 6th Mixed A/T Mtr has 24 4.2" mortars and 18 6pdr AT guns

If you go back and look at my options I advanced the 6pdr AT gun 6 months and increased its monthly production by 25. I think that made a difference.

Thank you for the info - especially the part about advancing the 6-pounders. I always chafe at the slow arrival of that device!

September 18, 1943

I guess Xargun got tired of my sinking his FT TFs around Merak
This first engagement was reasonable and acceptable
Night Time Surface Combat, near Merak at 48,97, Range 12,000 Yards

Japanese Ships
BB Yamashiro, Shell hits 1
CA Kumano, Shell hits 11
DD Kuroshio
DD Oyashio
DD Natsushio
DD Tokitsukaze
DD Arashi, Shell hits 8, heavy fires, heavy damage
DD Shigure
DD Yamakaze
DD Suzukaze

Allied Ships
CL Montpelier, Shell hits 1
CL Denver, Shell hits 2, on fire
CL Santa Fe, Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Fletcher, Shell hits 1
DD Anthony
DD Bennett
DD LaVallette, Shell hits 1
DD O'Bannon
Unfortunately, they met again and I did not fare as well
Night Time Surface Combat, near Batavia at 49,98, Range 12,000 Yards

Allied aircraft
no flights

Allied aircraft losses
SOC-1 Seagull: 3 destroyed

Japanese Ships
BB Yamashiro, Shell hits 8
CA Kumano, Shell hits 3, on fire
DD Kuroshio
DD Oyashio
DD Natsushio
DD Tokitsukaze, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Shigure, Shell hits 2, on fire
DD Yamakaze, Shell hits 3

Allied Ships
CL Montpelier, Shell hits 4
CL Denver, Shell hits 18, and is sunk
CL Santa Fe, Shell hits 1, on fire
DD Fletcher, Shell hits 4
DD Anthony, Shell hits 2
DD Bennett, Shell hits 27, and is sunk
DD LaVallette
DD O'Bannon, Shell hits 2
The only good part is that all of the surviving ships gained experience points, some a lot 12 or so
It is one of the things that have to happen, Surface Combat fights need to be done so my crews can gain experience,
it is just a painful process.
======================================================
Then this occurred and I am a not sure what happened.
Afternoon Air attack on TF, near Sorong at 82,107

Weather in hex: Partial cloud

Estimated time to target is 10 minutes

Allied aircraft
F6F-3 Hellcat x 96
SBD-5 Dauntless x 17

Japanese aircraft losses
A6M5c Zero: 1 destroyed

Allied aircraft losses
F6F-3 Hellcat: 2 destroyed
SBD-5 Dauntless: 10 destroyed

Japanese Ships
AMc Takasago Maru

Aircraft Attacking:
3 x SBD-5 Dauntless releasing from 3000'
Naval Attack: 1 x 1000 lb SAP Bomb
CAP engaged:
201 Ku S-1 with A6M5c Zero (12 airborne, 24 on standby, 0 scrambling)
12 plane(s) intercepting now.
Group patrol altitude is 17000 , scrambling fighters between 8000 and 17000.
Time for all group planes to reach interception is 28 minutes

I do not really understand what happened. I lost 14 SBDs and 7 Hellcats and only shot down 1 Zero
That does not seem right, but it is what it is I guess.
=================================

More bombing and bombarding at Jaluit

I landed at Cocos Islands and took them, no opposition

I do need to thank Xargun for enlarging the repair shipyard at Soerabaja to size 10, I can now repair my damaged CLs there.

Not bad results, just not as good as expected. I can only assume that he has some very highly experienced Naval

Burma September 20, 1943

This is a magnified view of Central Burma
There are movement arrows from Mandalay and Magwe, but not from Meiktila.

I have units moving to both Mandalay and Magwe now, I am waiting on others to continue to reduce
their disruption.
