Screen Scrolling and Window mode

Post by ago1000 »

In full screen mode, no issues with map scrolling up, down, left or right based on the location of the cursor. However, in window mode, when the mouse is right most or down at the bottom of the screen, the map does not scroll for me. Not sure if I'm the only one with this issue but just something I noticed is happening. When the curor is left most and upward, the map scrolls as it should.

I haven't been able to figure out why some of you have this issue. I just opened up the game right now, put it in windowed mode, and turned on mouse scroll. No problem.

I've tested double monitor and single monitor.

This is a windows system right?

The game has a 100 pixel buffer on the edges to test for screen scroll when the user is on the edge.

Try this if this is windows...

In the upper right you have minimize, maximize, and close.
When it is in full screen click maximize, change the size around to something smaller, then maximize again.

I am using the current windows version and up to date.
If you maximize in windows mode it works as intended. Interesting to note, when not maximized and I move the window to the left and up a bit, the left and up scroll don't work but the down and right do work. That must be the border of 100 pixels you are speaking of. This must be on my end somehow. Maybe something to do with desktop size or mouse driver as I have just noticed my mouse cursor disappears on the bottom and right side of my screen. I will play around a bit on my end.

I did this which works fine. The mouse moves around the 100 pixel border. It is 1 pixel in the game and 99 outside its border.

I also maximized this and it works.

Do you have the game at a different resolution than the monitor?

From my end both my drivers (monitor and mouse) are up to date and working fine. My game resolution is the same as my monitors. I believe it has to do with the size of your window and the location of (0,0) corner The game window exceeds the desktop and the upper left corner is slightly right. Probably more than 100 pixels. So my cursor will never reach the edge of the game window to have the screen move as it lies just beyond my desktop.

This is the location of the game window when I first start the game in window mode. I know the picture isn't very clear but the game edge doesn't line up with the left side of my desktop. It's slightly right. The right side of the game board then goes off the desktop, probably the same amount, on the right side. If you make the game window smaller, it will work. I tested it by resizing the window and had no issues.

Well that makes sense now.

I always assumes the windowed mode put the game frame within the monitor.

So yes if 200 pixels are off the right or bottom side of the screen it won't scroll since it is based on the window frame of the game.
