[1.0.3.4] Unrealistically high ship building cost

I have massive annual ship building cost despite not building any ships or bases for a few years running. This cost has started recently and ticks up by about 6-7k every few in-game days. I do not get notifications for newly built ships.

Anybody have any idea what's going on?

It's a pretty run-of-the-mill second game with all game setup settings to default. I did turn off automatic ship and base building, just to be sure.

Do you have any ship on Automatic stuck in a Ion or Gravitic Nebula?

You pay for retrofits when you give the order, but do not get it back on canceling.
And unfortunately the right Ion damage can force a ship to drop their mission. Including Retrofit.
Which it will then try again...

My best advice is to delete any such ships with the Editor.

I did not have any ships stuck in nebulas, but the idea that ship orders could be the issue put me in the right direction.

So, I did find some work-arounds, although I don't know the exact cause of the issue.

1) Scrapping all my construction ships fixed the issue.

2) Even simpler, clicking the stop button on all construction ships also fixes the issue, even when leaving them fully automated. I guess one order got borked somehow. Either way, I stopped investigating which exact construction ship was the problem.

Thanks for letting us know about this bug - glad you were able to find a workaround! Did you figure out if it was a combination of settings or a bug with a specific ship in the end?

Definitely a bug.

There are a number of additional 'fixes' that seem to work for me.

1) Selecting any construction ship resolves problem. Even from the construction ship menu
2) Hovering over any construction ship (such that ship info pops up) in system/galaxy map resolves problem.
3) On rare occasions (~5%?) the issue does not manifest when reloading the game. However, there is a construction ship on screen when loading this save, so I may have accidentally hovered of that ship (point 2), not sure.

From these observations it appears that it may in fact not be a specific build order that went wrong. Added the save-game for your entertainment.
