Motorized NKVD Division isn't motorized?

Post by ErmanMagon41 »

Hi, can anyone tell me what is going on here?

My NKVD motorized division is showing up as non motorized, but has the movement points of a motorized division!

What could cause this?

Hi Erman Magon and welcome to the forums!

I'll try to explain what is happening here.
It looks like you've put Grigory Kulik as the commander of this division (see the divisions morale).

Grigory Kulik was a well known logistician. It seems using Socialist magic Marshal Kulik has removed the need for this motorized division to be motorized.

The division, previously supplied and transported by the capitalist bourgeoisie fascist invention known as "trucks", is able to teleport at will using the power of glorious socialist idealism!

The non motorized motorized division will be a useful tool indeed against the fascist invaders, and especially against any Romanian armies you find.

I recommend you counterattack with this division immediately.

@Toxic

I sincerely loved your explanation in all of its Soviet descriptive glory. :!:

@Magon

I have come across the same issues with the German TOEs as well where "Motorized" elements did not seem to have the correct underlying mobility type assigned in the game data.

I am not entirely sure that was the intent by the scenarios designers and inclined to believe it was an oversight that was not caught or corrected before release.

To me, when I see a unit that is clearly meant to be "Motorized" and even has "Motorized" in its name, then the mobility type should reflect that as well. Which "NON-MOTORIZED(3)" does not seem to be the appropriate type to be used.

Another fact in support of my suspicious is that other "Motorized" entities do seem to have the appropriate underlying mobility type assigned.

Which ever way the game data was meant to have been defined, I would expect some level of consistency commonly used.

I would suggest you submitting it as a potential scenario data bug to get some sort of official clarification on it.

Please check older saves if the unit was ever properly motorized. Current game data has the relevant OBs and all NKVD Mot divs as fully motorized.
If the unit lost its motorization inbetween some turn it would be a bug.
Please state scenario and game version
WitE dev team - (aircraft data)
WitE 1.08+ dev team (data/scenario maintainer)
WitW dev team (aircraft data, partial data/scenario maintainer)
WitE2 dev team (aircraft data)

That one seems to have the correct mobility type. Or, at least, the type I would expect it to have.
