[1.0.3.7] Obstinate Ships?

Post by mordachai »

It's like someone is on the bridge holding the captain and command staff hostage - and driving AWAY from anything I ask it to do.

It's on manual - there are no hostiles - but certain troop transports absolutely refuse to either pick up troops or refuel.

IN FACT - they literally will warp to the planet or station, and then turn away from and cruise in the opposite direction - and eventually they'll repeat that behavior.

I have absolutely no idea wth this is about? there's fuel there, and they need it, but "reasons"?

I see this with refuel and manual movement and load troops. Certain ships literally refuse to fly towards the thing they need to do.

See save - I'm zoomed in on fleet 1 - which has orders to refuel - and the ships I'm zoomed in on - are flying AWAY from the rendezvous point...

meh - "file too large" - must be a hair over 10MB :/

I've also observed this behaviour in my latest 1.0.3.7 game.

Had a fleet of 5 ships, two of them were unable to load fuel at a mining station.
Once they had warped in the vicinity of the station they moved away a certain distance, till they had to warp again.

I've checked the behaviour and it looked like that there was a misalignment in the x/y coordinate grid.
Issueing a simple "Move Order" to a Position always applied an additional X/Y offset, so the ship never moved where you actually clicked.

First I've thought that the extra offset only occurred on some newly build ships.
A short time later, however, some previously working ships also got the misalignment, rendering them useless.

I just tried to find a savegame that shows this behavior, without success.
So there is a possibility that a savegame reload fixed the offset issue.
I should mention that my game used some mods, but they were only related to mining and population growth.

interesting thought about it being an x/y offset?

I did exit & reload and haven't been plagued with this in a while, so maybe it is a corrupt memory situation that a reload corrects? Not sure?

I have seen this as well.

Fleet sent to attack a pirate base, bases shields and armor are nearly gone, and the fleet decides it would rather turn away and attack a pirate ship half a system away that didn't have a chance in its attack on my Mining station. Of course, the fleet arrives back at the pirate base that has repaired its shields and armor and resumes the attack, only to go haring off after another rogue ship. Repeat this several times and eventually, the fleet remembers the Base and kills it...

Construction ships assigned to build a mining station in that spot I have carefully chosen. They will build the station ANYWHERE as long as it isn't the selected location.

I have had lots of issues where if I manually click a fleet to attack something they all stop and do nothing, like frozen in place, but then i can click a move command right next to said thing i wanted to attack and suddenly they can move again. Makes no sense, and in my last game I could not retrofit, they would all just stop, but if i manually retrofitted ships one at a time (by clicking on just one ship and not selecting a fleet) then they could do it just fine. I decided to uninstall and reinstall. Plus idk what it is but my policy settings dont seem to work, ships constantly want to refuel even at 90-95% full levels. I turned auto refueling off but they do it anyways. Will refuel as soon as I issue command, fly to system right next to refuel point, then turn around to refuel again even though they barely used any.

@Cyclopsslayerr, JohnnyBravo40.
I think your reported issues are more related to some questionable target routines or a ships straight refusal to do something because of X.

The problem I observed also happened on simple move orders, not targeting any specific object like planets/bases.
- select single ship
- tell it to move to coordinate 4000 / 5000 (not actual ingame coordinates)
- ship moves to 4040 / 5120 (offset 40/120)
- tell it to move to coordinate 2000 / 3000
- ship moves to 2040 / 3120 (offset 40/120)
- tell it to move to station X
- ship moves to station X coordinates, but again with an additional offset of 40/120 -> it never reaches the station

As a point of reference. The actual size of this offset was not small, maybe 2-3 planet diameters
