Gary,

You know it is Valentines day. Of course, I suppose you and Mrs. Yakstock could play HTTR.

I played CIVNET with my wife one time many years ago. Well, I built lots of tanks and rolled over her cities. That was the last game we ever played together. She said that I didn't understand the essence of game playing and how to form a cooperative partnership. I had thought any game about civilization would, of course, be a simulation of human conflict. Oh, well ... :)

LOL[:D]

Same happened to me with this good 'ole Risk boardgame. I was playing with my girlfriend and 3 other guys. At one point, I saw an opportunity, and I started to attack her. I got quite a few territories out of this and managed to consolidate my position, but my girlfriend was somewhat outraged at that: "What are you doing! I am your girlfriend!"...

She never quite understood that I did not do it to single out her, but purely for strategic considerations, and that I would be doing the same to anybody else [:)]

This thread may be degenerating into a "games played with my wife/girlfriend" thread.

My swears she doesn't like board games at all. My friends and I on occassion would invite our wives to join us playing games. Although, we played war games amongst ourselves, to get our peace loving wives involved we would play the rail road building games with them. My wife who swears she doesn't like games is extremely competitive when playing. She is very serious and you can see her concentrrating. She debates rules and strategies. I sit back and laugh. We have since moved and don't have the opportunity to play board games anymore, but I still tease her about how competitive she is.

Very few wives understand our addiction. I have another humorous story along these lines I'll share in another post.
We're gonna dance with who brung us.

Apparently CIVNET did model human conflict rather well after all ;-)
