Luxemburg and Belgium

Post by generalfdog »

A while back it was changed so if Luxemburg is attacked Belgium joins the allies which was a good change, but apparently if the allies align Luxemburg Belgium also joins which i found to be quit annoying, maybe even game ending in a recent game!

The bigger issue is the Allies can DoW on Luxemburg and capture it to slow the German advance into France in 1940.

If so, German can invade Netherlands without a reaction from Belgium.

Taking the Netherlands without Belgium is hardly a bonus.
The loss of Lux means the Germans have to go over the rivers to the North or the East which means heavier losses.

Doing Netherlands in one turn in April. Resting and regaining effectiveness for May. This is not too bad too.

Yes that would be nice, but it works only if the Allies take it early. However what happens is that the allies take Luxembourg in the last turn of April, knowing well that May 10th is usually the first turn of the BoF. So either the Germans still try to keep to the main schedule and try to take Belgium that same turn but with a French or British unit in Luxemburg (very good defense), or they do take the advantage that they can now declare war on the Netherland alone, but they lose a whole turn in their schedule.

So there is no reason really for the Allies not to take the Netherland late April. Only good things for them...

The whole rule exists because Germany use to take it in 1939, so this was fixed. But now in fixing that, the result is inverted and is actually worse for play balance I would say.

There is a simple fix...just make which ever side takes Luxemburg, Belgium joins the other side.

May not be "historic" but neither is an overly aggressive Allied player.

Would not be historic per se but the result on the game will since then nobody would dare do it...

In the next version of my mod I had this in mind, or annex Luxembourg to Belgium as a single country.
My native language is Spanish, and no English language mastery, sorry.

+1, I think this is what I suggested in another thread a while back
